Ivy Lodge: Well-kept grass pitches

General

  • Peaceful rural site just outside the village of Hogsthorpe
  • 20 minutes' drive from the beaches of Skegness and Chapel St Leonards
  • Well-stocked fishing lake on site, with bait and tackle available

Fishing-inclined folks, pack your kit and head to Ivy Lodge – this rural Lincolnshire site has its own well-stocked lake for leisurely days spent dangling your rod in the water. (If you prefer to travel light, bait and tackle are both available on site.)

As tempting as it may be to lounge by the lake for days on end, you’d do well to leave it behind for at least a little while, as there’s much to explore in the surrounds. The seaside towns and sandy beaches of Skegness, Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards are within a 20-minute drive, as are scenic walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Peace and quiet are the keywords at this well-kept site, so no long list of facilities and entertainment to distract from the relaxed rural vibe. All the basic amenities are covered though: a kitchen, washing-up area and freezer are available for guests to use, as is a shower block that receives a good thorough scrub on a daily basis.

Barbecues are welcome for those of you who’d like to sizzle up a sausage or few; if you fancy washing grub down with a pint there’s a cosy country pub a 10-minute trot away in Hogsthorpe.

Please note

Facilities/activities including fishing are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Peaceful and very well kept campsite, our pitch was super flat. Toilets were very clean as was the kitchen and showers.

    Disliked:

We have a 19 month old who loves to run off so had to be alert as there’s a small lake in the middle of the campsite. Not really a dislike more of a heads up to anyone with young children.

A real gem of a site. Small and peaceful. The owners really care for their little campsite, it is clean, well maintained and Covid compliant. We walked around the village in the morning and found the people we met friendly and welcoming. The nearest pub is only half a mile from the site and there are couple of takeaways not too far away that will deliver to the campsite if you prefer. The pond is brimming with large and healthy fish if you fancy a spot of easy fishing! Wouldn't hesitate to return, absolutely nothing to complain about here.
