We liked every minute of our recent stay at Grooby's ( our 2nd } and again can't find fault in any of amenities provided by the 2 owners Tracy & Neil who work tirelessly to make your stay as pleasant as possible it's the best site we have stayed on,
For me the fishin was the best must be the fittest carp in Lincolnshire, for the missis the chickens came to see her every day while she sat readin, so friendly,
we dined out twice at the local pub, very nice, met some of the local people who had us laughin tellin us some of tales from the area, the only complaint about our stay at Grooby's is a week is just not long enough, free bus service for wrinklies, good fishin, peace and quite, no screamin kids.
    Can't wait to go again!!!

Loved this site so much that we booked to go again, before we even left. Tracey met us at the gate and welcomed us by first name, she also took the names of our dogs. Not once did she forget our names throughout the stay which I think is an amazing achievement, especially when you consider just how many different people she meets each week. She walked us to our pitch and provided us with all the information required for our stay.
The site was spotless and perfectly quiet, just what we were after. The toilet/shower block were fantastic - so clean. I've never used a toilet block like it. Lovey warm showers with lots of room to move around to get dry - all included in the cost.
Tracey even provided us with a couple of free ranged eggs from her hens.
We loved the free range ducks coming to us for breakfast each morning, so relaxing.
We have only give the Facilities/Activities a 3 because it only provides basic facilities - its not "all singing, all dancing" with a shop, swimming pool, bar etc. But we like it this way. If you require the "job lot" then this site isn't for you.
Its in a perfect location and is secluded. We can't wait to go again.

The very quiet location and the very friendly welcome from the host. Sadly we found out that we were the last tented booking as they are nolonger accepting tent bookings so we shall not be able to go again. We certainly would have!
I could mention the spotlessly clean toilet block and fridge for campers use but of greater note was the welcome pack gift of two just laid duck eggs. Can't get fresher than that.

    Disliked:

    Not doing tents any more.

Hello Maria & Gary,
Thank you for your kind review & taking the time to write it. We really do appreciate them.
I'm sorry you are disappointed you can no longer come with a tent. This is due to our expansion plans & change of license. Maybe you could book the camping pod?
It was a pleasure having you stay with us & hopefully we may see you back.

Lovely and peaceful, excellent host, lovely clean pod and the fishing lake, also good for bird watching and got some chickens on site that kept you on your toes if the fish wasn't 😃

    Disliked:

Would have been better if we could fish off the pod decking and night fishing was allowed but understand why they don't. Pods has the best view on the lake but as a gay couple we felt a bit like we were in the theatre production of Brokeback Mountain at times also had a bit of a personal nightmare with running out of bait I could loose feed when I left my cupping kit at home for the groundbait and chickens and myself knocking my maggots and pellets over. Can't say anything that negative really and would recommend giving it a go just make sure you prepare than what I did.

From the manager...

Hello David,
Thank you for your kind review & taking the time to write it.
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.
I would just like to pick up on some of your comments you mentioned.
It would not have been a problem if you had fished off the decking as some previous customers have done so in the past. I know I pointed out the two private fishing pegs, but will in future will make it clear to customers they can do so from the decking as well.
We have had heterosexual/Gay/Lesbian couples stay with us. As I have never watched Brokeback Mountain I have no idea what you were doing or wanted to do that made you feel on stage?? Unless you mean there were customers fishing opposite you and could see you on the pod decking? But once inside the pod you have total privacy.
I must admit I forgot to tell you to keep your bait covered as the chickens know to visit fishermen as they often get fed from them or can help them selves to unsuspecting ones :)
Hope to see you both again.
Kind regards,
Tracy

We were greeted by name when we arrived, one of those personal touches that help make you feel really welcome. The owners were really friendly happy to have a little chat when you see them around the site and always helpful when we had any questions.
We were a handy welcome pack with information about the site and local area including details of their favourite local pubs and restaurants.
The electric tent pitch we had was very large, with ample space for our 7m tent, car and still a huge area left for an outdoor living space.
The toilet & shower block was modern, fresh and clean with washing up facilities at the back.
The view across the lake is so pretty and there is easy access to the lakeside for angling. Though we don't fish, our neighbour for the weekend seemed to be having a lot of success though, and even asked me to take a picture of him with an enormous carp.
The whole site was well laid out, beautifully maintained and so peaceful. I loved it there.
