  • Family-run pub site near Market Rasen
  • Classic bike nights, biking weekends and free fishing
  • In a rural setting minutes from the Lincolnshire Wolds
You might wish this campsite was right next door to your office. For verily it includes a generous dollop of many people's very favourite things: it has ‘Arms’ in the name for a start, and thus is clearly attached to a pub. It’s tucked into the countryside but is only a couple of miles from the motorway and three miles from the nearest big town. It holds classic bike nights in the summer, biking weekends throughout the year courtesy of the Vulcan Riders Association and music festivals and events very close by. It has a free and properly stocked three-quarters of an acre fishing lake right on site. And it’s dog-friendly – cheers… Near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, The Skipworth Arms is a family-run pub, caravan and camping park in a five-acre rural setting, minutes from the Lincolnshire Wolds and within 20-25 minutes’ drive of the seaside at Cleethorpes and the castle and cathedral of Lincoln. Pitches are behind the pub, which is a lively community bar with free weekend entertainment and the main sporting events shown on BT and Sky. And the pub serves real ale, beer and lager at good prices: you might like a pub like this right next door to your office too please… Caistor, three miles away, has all the usual tasty takeaway suspects (such as Indian, Italian, Chinese or fish and chips), plus restaurants, pubs and local Lincolnshire meals in the Heritage Centre on Plough Hill. Lots of tasty food and drinks on hand? That’s one of most people's very favourite things too.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Booked a pitch for 2 days in our motorhome. Easy to book, texts from staff were helpful and informative when booking. Nothing was too much trouble. Although next to a train line, the noise was not intrusive, it is a nice peaceful site. Hedges around the pitches were nicely maintained. Delighted that there was live entertainment on the Saturday night, the excellent Cardee. Pub is great, plenty of choice. No food but able to order takeaway for delivery to site. Again the staff were helpful and welcoming. There's fishing on site (although the weather was awful so we will need to go back to try it 😊). Well worth a visit, would highly recommend.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Low price. Easy to find. Quick to check in. Friendly staff. Good beer. Pub couldn't be closer.

Disliked: Toilet block clean but needs much refurbishment - rather dilapidated. Hard standing has round stones so tend to move and sink.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: £15 / night excellent value Hardstanding pitch with own water, free fishing, pub at site entrance with reasonable prices No Food but they have a delivery menu which they allow you to eat in the pub, regular Saturday live bands, Rock band the night we were there, About a 1 mile walk to a woodland walk road has no footpaths but it’s fairly quiet. Friendly staff throughout

Disliked: Electric is by cards £5 deposit for card and you put an amount on it, not quite sure how it works as we put £10 on 1st night and £20 on for our remaining 2 nights and we got £20.20 plus our £5 deposit when we checked out???. Toilets and showers were functional (we used our in Van facilities), there’s an internal pan washing room, (with hot water), Elsan difficult to find as there’s usually a car parked in front of it, Elsan itself could do with some brightening up. The campsite is next to a railway line so there’s train noise usually 1 train per hour between 5 am & 11

Liked: Well-spaced, level pitches with EHU available. Toilet/shower facilities very clean. Reasonably priced Nice to be able to have a couple of pints at the pub with no need to travel.

Disliked: Nothing much of interest in the immediate area.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The site was nice and spacious. The pond is in the middle and has a fence around half. The staff at the pub very friendly and welcoming. The pub is dog friendly with an open fire. The care taker was friendly and helpful. Our little one loved seeing the trains as they passed.

Disliked: The wash room needs some TLC. It doesn't say in the site that you pay for electric separate so it wad a bit of a surprise to then have to pay on top.

Local attractions

The Skipworth Arms is on the edge of the hamlet of Moortown near Nettleton village, which is a mere couple of miles from the A46 for easy access to Lincolnshire’s heritage, countryside, market towns and museums, and close to the Forestry Commission woods of Willingham and Nettleton for leafy strolls. Both Caistor Outdoor Pursuits and the Caistor Equestrian Centre are about two miles away from the pub; for a gentler time, wander the four-mile section of the Viking Way from Nettleton to Caistor. Dump the car at Caistor and take the bus from town to get to several Lincolnshire highlights like the market town of Brigg 10 minutes away, the National Fishing Heritage Centre and Ross Tiger deep-sea trawler at Grimsby, and a day among the seaside, pier and winter gardens at Cleethorpes, both within 15 minutes. Five miles outside Grimsby, the six sails of heritage site Waltham Windmill are surrounded by a golf club which welcomes visitors; more courses are at for Laceby and Market Rasen for those who like to tee off on hols. The market town of Louth, one of the most visited in Lincolnshire as it’s on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, is about 20 minutes away (if you’re wandering the Wolds, take time to steam along them too with a trip on the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway starting from Ludborough). Also by bus, take the 25-minute trip to lovely Lincoln for a day sightseeing around its cathedral, castle and museums. Closer to home and by car, a 10-minute drive will take you to Market Rasen – perhaps for the racecourse? – and to tours around the Three Sisters Vineyard at Claxby. If you’re happy to drive a bit further for a day trip, there's another soaring day out in the Lancaster bomber of Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre 45 minutes away.
