The New Inn: Deck area outside the cabin

General

  • Peaceful rural Herefordshire glamping site with easy access to walks
  • A 10-minute drive from Hay-on-Wye and half an hour from Hereford
  • Stunning views over the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons

Get a load of the gorgeous glamping units at The New Inn, a spacious site in the tiny Herefordshire village of Brilley on the Welsh borders, then soak up the vast views over the Wye Valley, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Had your fill of seeing the scenery from afar? Dive deep into it during a walk: this is fine wandering country as trails run from the site’s gates out into the rural surrounds and on to the Offa’s Dyke Path.

Bike rides are popular too, and the folk here can hook you up with a hire company that delivers to your door if you’ve not been able to bring wheels. You could also amble down to the River Wye for a bit of canoe paddling (25 minutes’ walk) or browse for books in the literary town of Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes’ drive).

After roaming the countryside, come back to your characterful and eco-conscious glamping unit in the grounds of an 18th-century stone house that was once a drovers inn. A stream runs through the site and there’s plenty of space to chill out and take in the views. Each of the units also has its own private outdoor area, along with access to a private bathroom and kitchen facilities.

Dogs are welcome at this park, but please note that the accommodation is not suitable for kids under the age of seven.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests under the age of 7 are not allowed on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Please note that dogs younger than 1 year old are not permitted on site.

Everything! If you want a true escape to nature and the beauty she offers, this is the place to be. Its quirky, with lots of lovely little touches like the fairy lights inside and the recycling of stained glass windows....its just magical! The outside bathtub was just wonderful. We stayed in the Rising Sun cabin. Its totally private & so peaceful with the most incredible views. We can't wait to come back. Thank you Daphne & Carla for sharing your little bit of peace & tranquility.

Absolutely brilliant stay at the Granny's Cottage at New Inn. …12/05/2021

Absolutely brilliant stay at the Granny's Cottage at New Inn. As it says in the description, it's not 5* hotel, but a quirky little cottage, with a toasty Rayburn, all the essentials you'd need for a break and a helpful host. We went for a few walks just outside the cottage itself. The boat Inn down the road was good for food, but book a taxi ahead or you'll end up with a steep walk home up an unlit road. Daphne was a really friendly and helpful host. Sent us lots of advice beforehand so we could make our plans. We brought our own games to play at the cottage which proved useful when we had plans cancelled due to bad weather. There is patchy WiFi and 4g so you're not totally cut off, but I wouldn't rely on it for streaming etc (not sure why you'd want to do this on a break here anyway though really.)

Overall, a lovely stay and would return. Thanks Daphne 😊

    EVERYTHING! Filthy dirty
Run down hole. Stayed one night woke up to wasp from the wasp nest outside and left! My partner spent most of his time fixing all the broken things!
Rusty nails through the floor! Wobbly step. Bath filled no more than 2 inch before no more hot water! I have stayed in many places that are outside in but least they’re clean!!! Dogs to be kept on lead but owners dog was running in and out our section! I can honestly say it is NOTHING like the pictures!

From the manager...

it is the first ever negative review I am receiving from a visiting guest., I am very surprised!!! I personally am actively cleaning together with helpers, it is not dirty.... there will be the odd cob web and the dead leaves that the wind blows, as it is an outdoor space, the kitchen, the decking sitting spaces are all outside.... the inside is wiped cleaned each time... it is tiny inside, not possible to leave it dirty.... anyhow it obviously was not the place for this couple.... sorry about that...

Thank goodness we each are different and each have very different opinions....

If you want peace and quiet away from everyday life then this the place to go. The place is very different from your "normal" campsite so be prepared for basic, minimalist facilities, such as the shower and separate toilet being away from the caravan, not ideal if it's pouring down or the middle of the night! but both functioned well. For a base to use for touring it is ideal with the Breacon Beacons and Hay-on-Wye on the doorstep.

The character of the place! It is the definition of ‘quirky’ but that’s a good thing! From the prayer flags to the fairy lights guiding you around the winding paths this site is definitely an original. We stayed in the iron tabanacle and particularly liked the loft bed, the outdoor bath and the shabby chic vintage interior. My two boys loved it! The owl sanctuary down the road was BRILLIANT too ;)

    Disliked:

This is not traditional luxury glamping so don’t expect that. It is eco friendly, off grid and fun!
