General

  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the Severn
  • Close to a riverside fifteenth century inn
  • A short walk from Tewkesbury

Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the fifteenth century inn nearby, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink...

The Willows is a small, friendly site, and you couldn't ask for more in terms of location: despite being encircled by bucolically beautiful scenery, with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s only a short walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury.

You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...).

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Fantastic location with dog friendly pub next door serving food if the weather is bad. Quiet site. The man in reception was very helpful and friendly. We booked two nights but as the weather was so bad we phoned up to ask if it was OK for us to pitch early the next day in between the storms and was told it wasn't a problem. Got there at 0830 and he didn't want us to pay for the previous night. The site has more caravan pitches than tents but the tents are in a separate field so was nice and quiet. Very cheap too.

    Disliked:

I thought the toilet block would be nicer as it's such a small site but it was clean it just smelled walking near it.

Setting was lovely. Proximity to a great pub serving good beer and food. Toilet block always clean. 2 showers each for boys and girls.

    Disliked:

Not particularly the fault of the site but the lovely setting next to the lake in humid weather produced clouds of flying insects - midges/mosquitoes which swarmed our tent. Note for others.....take fly spray!

Lovely site away from the hustle and bustle of every day life yet close enough to visit the town if you use the ferry across the river, the pub next door serves nice food all day though drink's are a little pricey. But all in all a very pleasant stay will be going again soon.

    Disliked:

Nice place to visit lovely location - friendly owners and pub was great - right on the river to chill out :)

    Disliked:

Wanted to take the kids fishing whilst there but the set up was some tiny boards for 1 person and not much room for anything else down a bank absolutely full of nettles - not the park owners fault I know - decided against it as too dangerous. Showers and toilet area could do with a clean up too

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the twelfth century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty.

The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests will find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. Also on your doorstep are the golden villages and verdant hills of the Cotswolds and attractive provincial towns and cities such as Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Must see

  • Gloucester Cathedral (8.6 miles)
