Apart from a possible pitch on a tower block in the middle of a city, Briarfields Touring Park might be the most ‘leave your car at home’ site we’ve seen yet. Ditch the diesel guzzler or leave the motorhome on site and hitch a ride on one of the regular buses that pass right outside, leading to days’ worth of days out at Cheltenham (two miles away), Gloucester (six miles), Oxford, the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds. And if you’re getting around under your own steam, the friendly family team at Briarfields can pick you up from local public transport when you arrive.
Even on your own feets you’ll reach most of what you need quickly from the park: a pub and a newsagent are within a few minutes’ walk; an Indian restaurant, KFC and supermarket less than 15 minutes – and a caravan sales and spares dealership is a mile and a half away, just in case.
Although Briarfields is only a couple of minutes from the M5 (it’s often used by guests on their way north or south as an overnight stopover), it’s been rather cleverly designed so you can think you’re slap bang in the middle of the countryside: the landscaped areas and the separate touring and tent areas are edged throughout with mature shrubs, hedges and trees. Amenities are equally well looked after: the centrally placed amenities block is cleaned twice a day and has free hot showers for ladies, gents and disabled guests.
Swing into reception when you arrive at Briarfields for reams of info, leaflets and maps on the many (many) things to do a bus ride away: buses run every 10 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes in the evening to both Cheltenham and Gloucester, and another service to Oxford will give explorers about six hours in the city before heading back to Cheltenham.
Briarfields is open all year round and is dog-friendly.
We are not able to accept bookings from single-sex parties of more than 3 or from unaccompanied persons under the age of 18.

It's now possible to make group bookings on Pitchup.com for up to 30 adults and 30 children.
As long as the 'one unit per pitch' rule is not highlighted on the pitch type information (please check this before completing your booking), you will be able to pitch your tents together on one booking.
If you are not satisfied with the results generated, try breaking your booking down for more options. For example, if you're a group of 10, enter five people for your initial search and book two pitches. Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together when booking multiple pitches or accommodation units: the campsite or park will try to grant your request.
Before booking, please check the listing page for any group restrictions. These normally appear in a section titled 'Please note'. Please also check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit - especially for a large party - is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
