- Tent camping in a wildlife haven with spectacular views
- Local produce sold on site
- Pubs, takeaways, restaurants and supermarket within walking distance
Rabbits by day, bats by night, all in a High Peak wildlife haven with Peak District scenery to make one's heart soar… come camping at Chapel Campsite. It's on a seven-acre site full of local wildlife, with a friendly welcoming team ready at reception to offer info on the (many) Peak District attractions and walks nearby.
The campsite is on the outskirts of Chapel-en-le-Frith village with a supermarket, restaurants, takeaways and several pubs all a short stroll away, and there's a shop on site too selling local produce for on-site barbecues.
Chapel Campsite takes tents on grass pitches, and has decent amenities for guests including separate ladies' and gents' loos and showers, a parent and baby washroom, and disabled facilities.
Parking for one car is included in the pitch price, but if you're getting about under your own steam, Chapel Campsite is two minutes' walk from Chapel-en-le-Frith train station for trains to Buxton and beyond.
Find nearby sites with availability…
Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

From Whaley Bridge take the B5470 to Manchester Road: this leads to Long Lane. The site is just off Long Lane on Station Road. When you are on Station Road you will see signs for our site.
Chapel-en-le-Frith a few minutes' walk away has a fair bit to see once its many pubs and restaurants have been thoroughly investigated, including an old cobbled marketplace (a market is still held here every Thursday) complete with town stocks, many old buildings and the town church, dedicated to Thomas à Becket. If you need to work off some Peak District pies and pints, Chapel Leisure has a gym, tennis courts, football pitches and fitness classes.
Just outside Chapel-en-le-Frith is the Chestnut Centre, a wildlife park with owls, otters, polecats, deer and regular events like keeper experience days and kids' arts and crafts sessions. A golf club is just outside the town too, between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge.
Take the train from Chapel-en-le-Frith station to Buxton, one of the most famed places around the Peak District and a bit of a record breaker in the heady position of England's highest market town. Take a tram from the Pavilion Gardens to see the town in leisurely style, sticking around into the evening for a show at the opera house or Pavilion Arts Centre.
Outside Buxton, the huge limestone caves of Poole's Cavern in Buxton Country Park are a popular pull for visitors – rumour has it that the Romans worshipped here all those years ago – and the country park itself has heaps of other heady things to do like swinging around at Go Ape or climbing the woodland path to birdwatch and picnic at Grin Low.
Shoppers are sorted at Buxton's Spring Gardens centre, while those who want even more opps to spend their cash can take the train in the opposite direction from Chapel-en-le-Frith to Manchester.
