General

Since 2005, improvement works have continued at Peak Gateway Leisure Club to create a family Caravan and Camping site. The location of the site is ideal for access to the Peak National Park with its beautiful scenery and unspoilt country walks. Access to Ashbourne town centre shopping is also easy from the site either by road or foot path, known as Bonnie Prince Charlies Way, which runs through the middle of the site.

Traffic on the site is light and governed by a 10 mph speed limit. This helps provide a safe environment for children on the site.

With the large hard standing pitches, level dedicated tent field, and hi-specification holiday homes, all situated in a countryside setting, this is an ideal getaway, whether for a long weekend or a weeks stay.

The facilities provided at the site make it one of the best sites in the area and you will find most of these facilities in the main building housing the reception and bar. Various events take place at weekends and bank holidays throughout the year, details of which can be found in the Events section of the Web site.

Recently added facilities at the site include new modernized heated shower block with push button hot water supply (all free of charge). Refurbished heated 24 hour toilets in main building. Improved tent field toilet block with separate pot-wash room. We also have a small shop selling essentials (milk, bread, butter, toiletries and basic camping equipment) and having a lending library with books and videos. We have ukgeocachers.co.uk on site providing the first ever walk in Geocaching shop. If you have never heard of geocaching then you will be pleasantly surprised to hear that it's a rapidly expanding activity that's ideal for campers and walkers

Be aware of electric problems! 26/01/2017

    The site has some positive points which are;
    good location
    friendly helpful staff
    onsite bar

    Disliked:

    extremely expensive for what you get £40 a night!!
    only toilets and showers behind reception were open - a good 5 min walk from touring area
    most of the facilities were not available - playground, games room, cafe, sports facilities ( families had booked this site because of those facilities.)
    most importantly, there appear to be problems with the electric supply on site, a number of people were experiencing problems whilst we were there. The problems we experienced resulted in us leaving a day early and no refund was offered. When we arrived home all our electrics worked perfectly.

    We got the impression that this site is mainly for statics and seasonals even though the touring area is quite large the facilities for them are poor.
