General

  • Exclusive handcrafted pods on the edge of the Peak District
  • Dog- and eco-friendly site three miles from Ashbourne
  • Within walking distance of the local pub

What pleasing pods are these at Mulino: insulated, handcrafted, and on the edge of the Peak District with most handsome views over the Mulino Pods farmland. They're eco-powered by the farm wind turbine too and cedar-cladded for stays whatever the time of year… we say all most pleasing all round.

The pods at Mulino are on a peaceful rural farm but are only three miles away from Ashbourne and easily accessible to the nearby cities of Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Manchester. They're also in view of Carsington Water and – cheers – within walking distance of the local pub. Free superfast wifi broadband is available all over the farm for finding out what to see and where to sup next.

The Mulino team is rightly proud of its pods and have added them with quality and eco-consciousness in mind: as well as the satisfactory stuff listed above, the pods also come with a covered outdoor kitchen area fully equipped with kitchen utensils, gas hobs and sink; a firepit; barbecue area and outdoor table and seating (again with spectacular views).

Inside, there's a double bed with space for two extra beds if needed (please note that the pods are suited to a family with two children or a maximum of three adults), and a small fridge, kettle, heater toaster and basic crockery.

The amenities are also pleasingly smart – and spankingly clean – and include two individual bathrooms with hot, full-sized power showers heated by the wind turbine and solar panels, each with separate dressing area with a hairdryer and shaving points.

And – a very attractive addition to any site – there's also a small info room with seating area (hi again, spectacular views), book swap, games, toy box, local info and an honesty shop with charcoal, firelighting bits and other basic essentials.

Mulino Pods is dog-friendly.

Amazing! 28/09/2016

A bit of a drive along a single width track but it was worth it. With only 3 pods the site was quiet. We were right next to a field full of sheep. The pods are positioned in a way that makes you feel like you're the only people there. The location is high up in the hills so the scenery was breathtaking. Sitting outside first thing in the morning as the sun is rising was amazing and also having a barbecue in the evening while the sun was setting. The mulino guys have really thought about the detail, there's an info room with honesty shop, toys and books. The kitchen area has lots of utensils and pans so you don't have to worry about bringing everything.

Fantastic views & really comfortable stay 04/05/2016

  • Liked:

Damson pod has the most wonderful view over Carsington Water. We woke up to the sun rising over the misty fields below. Sheep were our closest neighbours.
Mulino Pods are well appointed, spotlessly clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay, including modern heated bathrooms. Although it was frosty outside, we were snug and warm inside.

    Disliked:

It would be good to have an oven & a microwave so that the kitchen is on a par with the rest of the facilities.
We were just 2 sharing and it was very snug. It might be a challenge with more!

Local attractions

Mulino Pods is on the doorstep of the Peak District and centrally located for loads of attractions, whether you fancy windsurfing on Carsington Water or strolling through historic Ashbourne three miles away.

Miles of walking paths, cycle routes and bridleways lead directly from the farm for car-free days – and the local pub and first-rate food is in the local village a mile and a half away for car-free and carefree eves.

As it's the Peak and historic Derbyshire, the area has a high number of other things to see and do: try National Trust properties Ilam Hall, Sudbury Hall, Kedleston Hall and Calke Abbey; historic houses Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall; farmers' markets at Leek, Bakewell, Wirksworth and Buxton; the Heights of Abraham caves at Matlock; local coarse and trout fishing, and a highly enjoyable day out at Alton Towers.
