The welcome by the hosts and the allocated spaces, which meant that the tents weren't on top of each other. The site was very clean and tidy and it was great to be able to hire items such as a fire basket with logs and kindling.

We had a great night at common end, upon arrival we where greeted by the friendliest warden we’ve met. She was very courteous and helpful all the way through our stay. The facilities are clean and well presented and are great to use. We left this morning to spend a day in dovedale, soon as we got in we phoned our parents then the campsite and booked again. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Annabelle was a pleasure to deal with on the phone, thankyou.

    The wardens.could not do enough.

    Disliked:

Weather was wet, site very water logged, everyone was getting stuck having to get towed out and on to pitch.no road making it very difficult to set up and pack.camping and caravanning for 18 yrs staying at least 3 sites a year, this is the worst.only stayed the 1 night ,3 was booked and payed for.not enjoyable by anymeans.......

From the manager...

Thankyou for your comments following your brief stay with us over the Easter weekend. It is disappointing that the weather was so poor but many campers remained for the weekend and the wardens did not receive any negative comments from guests over the weekend. Some positive comments included "its a lovely site but its just too cold", and "the weather can't be helped". The pitches were 100% serviceable, dry and ‘green’. The facilities block was fully open with routes to the block clear from quagmires although wellies would have been advisable, and the wardens were on site all weekend to assist as required. The only inconvenience you may have suffered was that you could not have your car next to the pitch since it was vehicles which were getting stuck en route to pitches. Guests were being advised to park on the hardstanding areas and walk to their pitches. A trolley was available to assist with this along with the wardens. Cars towing caravans were unhooked and the caravans moved onto pitch with the tractor. However, what does disappoint me is that after speaking with the wardens, you actually stayed 2 nights on site and left later on the 3rd day after dropping your family at Alton Towers. That is at odds with your claim you only stayed 1 night. I put it to you then that the site clearly wasn't in such a poor state as you claim in your review. The toilet block is not heated and we do not advertise that it is .

    Nothing to like

    Disliked:

We were given the 'best plot' due to many cancellations they had. Unfortunately their 'best plot to pitch our tent was a bog. If we had tried to put tent pegs in the muddy pitch they would have simply slid back out.The car had to be towed out by a mini tractor by the Warden (who were nice), but the site really was not 'fit for purpose'.
Because we drove 90 miles and not able to pitch our tent, we emailed the owner (Annabel) asking to review our request to add two of the three nights onto a future stay, I received the most arrogant, unhelpful reply I could ever imagine.
On some points she had misunderstood me, so I replied her again, where I then received a further reply even worse than her first one.
Needless to say she denied the condition of her site, stating that the problems lie only with her Customers and that the field was perfect.
I can't stress enough that this was the worst example of a site (even in bad weather) that we've ever come across, and the arrogance of the owner has been simply appalling. I would advise anyone NOT to stay here as there are many other Camp Sites within the same area who would appreciate their Customers more.
If anyone has any doubt to what I have said, please feel free to contact me and I will happily pass on the email correspondence we shared with each other

From the manager...

Thankyou for your comments following your brief trip to the site over the Easter weekend. I have already emailed you twice to politely explain the reasoning behind why there are no refunds or transfer or monies to another date, against your booking. I realise you are upset that this is our position but as I said to you before we cannot control the weather. The pitches were 100% serviceable, dry and ‘green’. The facilities block was fully open with routes to the block clear from quagmires although wellies would have been advisable even from the weather forecasters, and the wardens were on site all weekend to assist as required. The only inconvenience you may have suffered was that you could not have your car next to the pitch since it was vehicles which were getting stuck en route to pitches. It is disappointing that the weather was so poor but I find it more disappointing that your frustration is vented towards the site and untrue statements have been made. I have spoken with the wardens and they are surprised you have posted such a negative review when in fact you wanted to stay on site despite all your criticisms. You went away to 'talk round' your wife but to no avail, who was indignant about a spot of mud she had on her boots. I put it to you then that the site clearly wasn't in such a poor state as you claim in your review.
