Good loos and showers - don’t forget £1 coin for the hot water. Can hire firepits and buy logs. Lovely giant board games and bales for the kids to climb on.

Tradueix (A través del Traductor de Google)Em va agradar: Great plot size and freedom to select your plot. Pleased they could offer a fire pit, logs, enclosed toilets and sheltered washing up area. Very family oriented play area in the middle made for a great atmosphere.
No em va agradar: Logs sold were £7 for a small bundle and hiring the firepit came at a cost also. Outdoor, uncovered showers cost £1 for 3 minutes. Showers were hard to use as there was no where to hang your towel/place clean clothes; I had to hang my clothes over the shower wall panel but the strong breeze from the outside knocked the clean clothes onto the wet dirt outside. This was frustrating as time felt precious due to the £1 charge, and rushing to collect my clothes before they got soiled detracted from the experience. Even for £1 I think the experience of showering outside was poor as the cubicle floors were dirty and leaves/muck from the trees above dropped on you during your shower. Toilets had no lights inside so were unsafe to access during the night as there was no outdoor/path lighting to the toilets. Also, the floor of the toilet cubicle was dirty and the toilets were not cleaned during our two night stay, only blue cleaning product was messily squirted into each toilet bowl.
We stayed here last year and fell in love with the place. With each plot purchase you were given a firepit and free bucket of logs with your pitch. Showers, both hot and cold, were free to use and even the outdoor composting toilets were kept clean.
Thank you very much for your review Georgia - we really do appreciate all feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the plots, our play area and our other facilities. We just wanted to clarify a few things for both yourself and others considering booking.
Due to the rising cost of wood, (it's gone up 50 per cent in the last two years) we made the tough decision to start charging for it, along with our fire pits, this year. Last year, we gave away the wood which we regret because it came at a considerable loss for us. Some of our fire pits were also damaged.
We're sorry showering was not an enjoyable experience for you. We fully take your point about the hooks and we'll be getting some fitted this weekend. Thank you for flagging.
We make very clear throughout the booking process that we're a back to basics campsite. Being positioned near woodland means leaves and mud will blow into the showers, but we believe it's part of the outdoor experience. Last year when you stayed, there was less mud around because it was a heatwave so everything dried very quickly. There was an awful lot of rain this weekend and with rain comes mud, unfortunately.
We decided to turn the toilet lights off at night because lights attract hundreds of moths. We also made clear in the welcome pack sent out a few days before arrival that it is a dark site and we issued a reminder to guests to bring torches.
The toilets were cleaned twice a day and were checked every three hours. The blue liquid you saw is disinfectant fluid that you find in every mobile toilet unit when you flush it.
I hope this clarifies a few things for you. We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience.
