Liked: The site was a flat green and clean site, overlooking the lakes and country side. Diggerland just a 2 minute walk away, and if you ask you do get 25% off entry fee in there. You are free to come and go as you please, I came back to the caravan and prepared lunch, so the lads didn't waste too much time away from the park. There is no shop on site, but there is a spar shop at the garage just opposite which stocks all your everyday needs and newspapers. Lovely and quiet the weekend we went.
Nice walk around the lakes, and plenty of birds, especially the early morning wood pecker.
We had prepaid, we did not see anyone whilst on the site, we were left alone and we arrived late, with no problems getting onto the site. However, the full price you pay should you not prebook, is definitely not worth the money. We have been on far better sites for less money to be honest.
Disliked: The toilets and showers, leave a lot to be desired.. A portacabin split into 2... the ladies and gents consisting of 2 loos, which if the site was full would be in adequate. Also housed in each side were 2 showers, which flooded everytime, no controls for temperature etc. I did not like the fact that there was only a shower curtain to these showers, in the actual toilets, therefore my 2 sons aged 11 and 14 were not allowed to go in alone, as we normally do, due to no locks (you never know these days!), I was also a bit wary as the toilets faced out onto field and anyone entering the toilets, the people in the field could see straight into the toilets and showers, a wind blowing through could separate the curtain, and you were on view to all on the field. There were just 3 basic hooks in a cramped single shower area and a grotty wooden bench. Very crammed and very wet so difficult to get dressed without soggy bottomed trousers.
At the back of the toilets a pipe was broken and muck was oozing, also the elsan point was filthy and disgusting.
The dirt track to the site needs attention, as some holes and stones etc could damage your caravan.
Overall the site is in a lovely spot, peaceful and ideal for diggerland, however the toilets definitely need upgrading and attention. That was a major let down.
