Liked: We stayed at this campsite on our tour around Scotland for 10 days. Upon arrival the warden was very friendly and helpful offering us a few spots in which to pitch within the vast tent field.

The site is geared mainly for static holiday homes and caravans, with the tent field as an extension, but this did not bother us at all. Our pitch overlooked the Loch which was a lovely site to wake up too every morning.

There is a play park on the edge of the Loch which is centrally located for all, which was a great idea for kids to entertain themselves with hours of fun.

The toilets were clean and very modern although they did get very busy at certain times, they were cleaned thoroughly everyday and any repairs was carried out immediately. The dish washing facilities were adequate, although they were also busy at peak times.

The laundry facilities were good and reasonably priced.

The shop was well stocked with essentials, although there is a Londis shop in the next village and more shops in Castle Douglas which is only a few miles away.

Campsites like this are more suited to those who abide by the unwritten campsite rules that time served campers understand, where as short term Glampers seem to have total disregard for other campers around them and continue making unacceptable levels of noise till late at night.

Overall this was our favourite campsite of the holiday because of the location, relaxed atmosphere and friendliness of everyone, oh by the way the weather wasn’t bad either which is a bonus for Scotland.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about this campsite,

We stayed in a tent, felt very welcomed on arrival, forgot to get shower tokens, phoned warden after hours and apologised but he was lovely about it and got us tokens. Beautiful area, a good time to camp in September not that busy although a bit chilly.

Poor Staff. Poor Cleanliness. Poor facilities. Element of danger. Bad policies.

Liked: Just one of the owners (the husband).
The scenery obviously.

Disliked: Everything mostly -

Staff- It appears to be family run. Which ideally is perfect but not in this case. From the initial call then arrival I spoke to the same woman who was very rude. Turns out she was 1 of the owners!
Cleanliness was awful in toilet and shower areas m and f. The field for pitching was also littered and muddy and the ground offered no support for the pegs!
There are boating facilities, however the boats are in a very poor condition and full of litter. But more worrying is that fact that the boats were not tied up and any CHILD could be lost!
I arrived on Fri and I paid for the 2 nights in advance which = £30 (£15 per night). Despite the awful conditions I got a call from home which required my to go. I asked for a refund of the Saturday as it states campers must leave before noon or the get charged for the next day, but not the other way! It states 'no refund' nowhere! But again rudely told.
ADVICE - go elsewhere. For LKHP you need patience for poor conditions and rude staff!!
