Glamping with Dogs

Liked: So what is glamping? Consider for a moment a cross-breed of camping, comfort and luxury and you will find yourself barking up the right tree.

Whilst touring the country we recently paid a visit to dog friendly Middlewick Holiday Cottages in Glastonbury to stay in one of their e-den glamping cabins.

The attraction of staying in an e-den, rather than a traditional tent, started before we left the house. Normally camping involves military planning or the consequences... a cricked neck (forgot the pillow), cold feet (forgot the thermals) or the ultimate sin of warm white wine (forgot the coolbox). Not this time, all we had to pack was a torch. Oh and a bottle of Prosecco. Of course Boomer was equally pleased to have the back seat to himself.

Our e-den was situated under an apple tree in a large field (perfect for a bit of ball throwing!) backing onto a public footpath leading to the Glastonbury Tor. The cabin had a retro appearance with wooden decking covered by a canvas awning and complete with comfy beanbag (for Boomer or us), patio table and chairs and bbq.

Entering the cabin through a stable door you find a fully made up double bed, wardrobe, fridge, heater, tea and coffee equipment and electricity points for you pampered pooches who can’t live without your hair straighteners.

Added to which you get to have your own bathroom with towels and eco-friendly toiletries – no sharing showers with spiders when you are glamping at Middlewick.

We spent the afternoon walking up the Tor and into nearby Glastonbury to the dog friendly Who-d a Thought It Inn for a pub meal. Returning to our cabin Boomer had the opportunity to play with Maggie (the dog from the front of the Sawdays Dog Friendly Guide), her pup Elle and Daisy-dog.

Luckily, the night we stayed coincided with Somerset Arts week where a small exhibition was held in the function room. Think warm welcome mixed with local artists, cider, cheese and a range of pups resting at their owners feet.

At night we drank Prosecco under the stars whilst Boomer ate his well earned bone....all in all the stay was paw-fect and we hope to return soon.

Disliked: Nothing!

E-den Eve was superb!

Liked: Loved the farm - very peaceful, well kept and relaxing. Loved the animals wandering around and we were visited by the dogs, cats, chickens and goats! Spotlessly clean and very comfortable with everything you need. Private bathroom add a lovely touch. Used the swimming pool and steam room while we were there and enjoyed this experience too!

Disliked: Doesn't seem fair to put anything negative really, but Eve is very close to the apple tree which means loads of insects every time you walk to the bathroom which wasn't nice and when apples fell off the tree onto the E-den in the middle of the night we got the fright of our lives!

I had an excellent stay in one of the Edens. The building was gorgeous!! You will definitely have pictures to show your friends at home, of the Eden, the Tor, the friendly animals, and the beautiful English countryside surrounding the charming cottages

Liked: We have been to Middlewick 5 Times now and love the peace and tranquility of the complex which is why this was our 5th time there.

The Edens are a really nice addition glad Jill and Jonathan have added a Glamping element to Middlewick.

The Eden we stayed in was called Eve and had a nice amount of space but most of all is cosy and warm and nicely presented with a fridge which is handy for drinks etc.

Also has very comfortable bed with nice snuggly duvets and pilows and luxury towels and a complimentary bottle of water which we thought was a nice touch :)

Each Eden has a very nice BBQ to cook on loacted to the side of the eden and the decking area has chairs and a outdoor beanbag which is nice for chilling outside.

Also has very comfortable bed with nice snuggly duvets and pilows and luxury towels and a complimentary bottle of water which we thought was a nice touch :)

Each Eden has its own private bathroom which is a really nice touch and very unusual as we have stayed in pods elsewhere.

We loved sitting out on our decking enjoying a drink while watching the sunset with the Tor as our backdrop.

The Complex has a heated indoor swimming pool and sauna and a very well stocked farm shop hosting very nice breakfast boxes which we would highly reccomend:)

Most of all has the most lovely and friendly owners Jill and Jonathan nothing is too much trouble which is why we keep going back and also we love the furry resident's Labridoodles Maggie and Ellie and the Middlewick Cat too :)

We have booked again for the 6th time at the end of the August again for the Eden as we both enjoyed it so much:)

Clarks Village is a really nice place to viist and also Wells and Glasto are both worth a visit while staying at Middlewick.

Disliked: Nothing Loved it all :)
