Disliked: I did not like using a coin operated system on a timer for showering in the new female ablution block.

Great place for winter break! Stayed in fix pod.

Liked: The whole place is a newly landscaped place that is friendly and comfortable.
Perfect in winter as pod is toasty and cozy, with firepit (charcoal included) and saws avilible to cut up as much wood from pile in gild as you wish you can stay warm outside too!
No restrictions on coming and going, super friendly staff and really close to amazing pub - Boot Inn, (NOT the bell!)

Disliked: Well, nothing to dislike but a mistake in the booking system allows fox pod to be booked for 4 adults, unless one of you wants to sleep in a narrow gap on the floor it can only sleep 3 adults.
Also we read lots of reviews saying how lacking in facilities this place is - its not problem in quiet winter times at all!! and there are plans for a new toilet/shower block soon anyway.

Liked: Location near Stonehenge and just 1hr from Bath in beautiful countryside
Immaculate campsite, well-kept with lovely grass and planting
Friendly and helpful welcome and service, including lending of forgotten shower gel and fantastic pub recommendation
Peaceful setting
Fire pits - having a fire really made the camping experience
Being allowed to stay all afternoon, not having to pack up and leave by midday

Disliked: Finding out on arrival that fire pits cost £10 extra - the booking suggested it was included in the price, and a tenner seemed a bit steep

Good - but watch for the campfires

Liked: The whole site was nice and well looked after.

Disliked: We camped in a field adjacent to another where you could have campfires. Unfortunately, for the duration of our stay the non campfire field was down wind. A large family who pitched there didn't seem to move for four days and kept a fire permanently lit. The consequence of this is everything we own had to be cleaned and fabreezed on our return. Even the car needed a valet!

It would be better if the fields were switched round or a fence put up! Though our issue isn't with the campsite - just the lack of consideration from others!

Liked: Loved everything about the site. The owner William is so friendly and helpful. Could not have asked for more. We, as an off road driving club, were made very welcome and had all our pitches together. We had stayed here before and since our last visit the caravan pitches have all had an overhaul and most are now hard standing which is brilliant.

Disliked: There is nothing to dislike about the site.

Great Location & Value For Stonehenge Summer Solstice

SoCalMusicLover (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)

Liked: We had a very pleasant stay at Stonehenge Campsite. We are from the U.S., and came specifically to this area for the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge on Tuesday Morning June 21, 2011. The site was easy to reach via bus from the Salisbury train station, although you have to be sure to walk around the corner when leaving the rail station, to find the bus stop. Also, the last bus is at approximately 5:30 PM on weekdays, and it's much more expensive if you miss it and are forced to take a taxi. Keep this in mind if you are coming, and don't have your own transportation.

The shuttle provided by the campsite specifically for the Solstice, was quick, easy, and reasonable. Got us there and back, while cars were still backed up leaving the Stonehenge parking lot. We did not use the showers, but they looked nice and clean, especially for a campground. The owner of the site was pleasant, helpful in responding to email questions, and the other campers encountered at the site were friendly.

If we were coming again for the solstice, we would gladly stay here.

Disliked: Not easy to reach without car. Subject to bus schedule, which ends at 5:30 PM.

There was food available onsite, but they left early in the evening, and we had to wait until we reached Stonehenge.

Liked: Great little site - William the owner is possibly the nicest chap you will ever meet! Just great atmosphere, super-hot power showers, wash-up facilities with super-hot water, peaceful yet close to the A303 for transport links, great walks directly off the site - a real little gem. Shouldn't really tell you as I want to keep it all to myself!

Disliked: Nothing...everything spot on!
