Pittenweem Arts Festival
Where is it? Pittenweem Village, Pittenweem, Fife, KY10 2PG Scotland
You can see the work of more than a hundred artists at Pittenweem, with exhibitions taking place in houses, garages, studios, gardens - in fact, anywhere that has wall space! It’s a great way to explore the narrow 'wynds' and nooks and crannies of this glorious fishing village, which still boasts a working harbour.
The event showcases the work of both well-established artists and newcomers, and takes in a wide variety of genres (this year milliners and jewellers feature alongside painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists and more).
The wider programme includes diverse live music performances, film screenings, theatre, comedy and poetry readings. You can book into talks from individual artists or take part in a workshop on pinhole photography, jewellery making, textiles or paper kimono making. There's even an Open Air Painting Competition, with entry open to all ages, and a brilliant set of children's events (geology walks, cartoon drawing, shadow puppetry) to keep the younger members of the family occupied.
