Kick off the Yuletide season with a visit to Grassington, where you can get your Christmas shopping sewn up with minimum stress and maximum festive spirit!
Over three Saturdays, this charming village is transformed into a Victorian cornucopia of delights as the streets fill with traditional market stalls and street performers, dancers and musicians entertain the crowds. Stall-holders, shopkeepers and visitors alike don period dress, the local pubs, restaurants, and cafes serve up reasonably priced trad grub and there are demonstrations of country crafts.
With unique and interesting gifts on sale at the market and in the quaint and quirky shops that line Grassington's streets, you should be able to polish off that Christmas shopping list in no time.
It's worth sticking around until the evening to see the twinkling Christmas lights, watch the torch-lit parade led by Mary and Joseph (plus donkey), and take part in a rousing carol concert in the village square. There's also entertainment from the local Singers and Players in the town hall.
