Edinburgh International Science Festival
Where is it? Edinburgh City Centre, Edinburgh, Lothian, EH6 7BD Scotland
Become part of a mass human experiment or help set a new world record at the Science Festival!
With more than 200 events and activities, there’s plenty to intrigue and enthuse. As well as talks from eminent scientists such as Professors Brian Cox or Robert Winston on subjects as diverse as psychopaths, fireworks and miracles, there are loads of exciting hands-on experiments and exhibitions for kids (and big kids) of all ages.
Last year, visitors could discover how to turn a round bubble square, make a glow-in-the-dark jelly, compete in the Robot Football Champions League, or even mix up a blood milkshake (er, yum?).
The festival venues (over 30 in all) mean you can take in some of the best bits of the city too, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, the National Museum of Scotland and the seven-floor City Art Centre. You could even go for a sleep-over at the zoo to find out what the animals get up to after dark!
