  • Small peaceful park centrally located a few miles from Redruth
  • Five mins' walk from St Day village; Falmouth/Portreath 15 mins' drive
  • Spotless amenities including showers, toilets and launderette
Long days lounging among scenic and spacious Cornish surroundings and easy access to both north and south Cornwall are offered up at St Day Tourist Park, a small and peaceful place in the rural setting of old Cornish mines a couple of miles from Redruth. St Day's centrally located setting has it five minutes from St Day village and niftily placed between north and south Cornwall to use as a base to get to both; Falmouth on the south coast and Portreath on the north are both within 15 minutes' drive. (If you'd rather get around by bus, regular services to Redruth and Truro run from the village.) Amenities include a centrally set and immaculately kept modern shower block with toilets, basins and free hot water; also on hand are a launderette with washing machine, dryer, tumble dryer and ironing facilities, and water points, chemical waste disposal and washing-up facilities handily set near the shower block. Wifi is available on site for an extra fee. St Day village, five minutes' walk away, has a supermarket, a newsagent and a pub serving fish and chip takeaways as well as meals to eat in. Dogs are welcome at the park, but must be exercised off site and kept on leads at all times when back at base.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Very quiet site, large pitch, hot showers, good wifi - good value for money.

Disliked: Pitches are on a slope, even with levelling ramps our van was not level and there is curb on your touring pitch wich makes it a bit akward to park up, it is also quite tight between the opposite pitch - might be a challange to manoeuvre large vehicle. Toilets and showers are a bit grubby - need a deep clean. Lights on sensor in toilet/shower block - they do not stay on long enough and you end up showering in the dark. There is a radio in shower block which is on 24/7 - maybe instead of saving on electricity by turning off the lights turn radio off and increase lenght of time lights are on or invest in more light sensors in shower cubicles. Something that surprised us as well was a bin lorry collecting glass waste at 4.20am one morning - as you can imagine it was very loud!

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Very quiet. Good facilities. Pitches are a good size. Particularly liked that they had a freezer and microwave that you could use.

Disliked: Facilities are a bit tired but that said they are fully functional so not really an issue

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The site was lovely and quiet with no children although we did go out of season The site is literally in the middle of nowhere so a real get away from it all place to go Free wifi It was well kept and the facilities were cleaned daily. The pitches were nice and big with plenty of room for our caravan, awning and car. We were nice and close to the facilities.

Disliked: The welcome was a piece of paper on the door with our pitch number on it. This was recitified the next day with an apology. It was the managers day off so far enough. There were only 4 toilets for the whole site which was fine when we were there because there were only a handfull of people but not so good if the site was full. We weren't given any information on the local area or places to go or visit Being on a hill it was difficult to get the caravan level and stay level

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We didn’t like anything about our stay

Disliked: The children’s play area was not suitable for young children they could climb on the play area and full from the slide , the site was very muddy and not equipped with anything the shower flooded under the door very slippery for young children . Plus we wasn’t greeted by anyone didn’t even see the couple who ran the site ,we wasn’t even given a map off where we was to put up our tent or we never even got a local map where the nearest amenities where , wouldn’t go back again

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely clean site. Good size site not too big or busy. Laundrette on site, toilets and showers cleaned regularly. Friendly owners. Local park and shop couple of minutes walk away. Great location for travelling around Cornwall. Pretty central to both coasts. Little climbing frame on tent pitches for smaller children. Lovely sized pitches some even have picnic benches!

Disliked: Nothing.

Local attractions

St Day Tourist Park's central location means it's within easy driving distance of most of Cornwall's well-known spots, like Truro, Falmouth and St Ives 10, 15 and 20 minutes away, the spectacular scenery of Land's End within 50 minutes, and beaches and surfing all around. Portreath and Porthtowan are the two closest beaches, about 10 minutes' drive to the north and with good surfing, kayaking and a café each. Ramble between them for a scenic up and down hike via the South West Coast Path, going on to St Agnes or Godrevy from Portreath if your legs can take it. A leisure centre, fishing, golf, horse riding, flea market, surfing, spectacularly scenic walks and views are all within easy reach of the site, as well as the remnants of Cornwall's mining history at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Agnes (15 minutes). From Porthtowan, hike along the three and a half miles to Chapel Point, via the old engine house at Wheal Coates.
