  • 3km from Strasbourg with public transport from the site
  • Fully renovated in 2016
  • Seasonal pool, free motorhome service point and communal central lodge
What a spectacularly pretty city is Strasbourg. And what a spectacularly nifty setting has the Alsace site of Camping de Strasbourg, only three kilometres from the famed and historic city centre: public transport to the city centre stops in front of here and there's also direct access to the city cycling route if you'd rather bike it (bike hire is available on site). Camping de Strasbourg is in the Montagne Verte or Green Mountain district natural urban park of the city. Its reception area has reams of info on the region if you want to venture further after your city sightseeing – although Strasbourg should keep you happily occupied for quite some time… The site was fully renovated in 2016 and includes a leisure area with seasonal pool, volleyball pitch and pétanque court, all near the new central lodge open throughout the year for relaxing, playing board games, using the free wifi or watching TV. A playground, ping pong tables and table football are also on site to keep the kids amused, and if anyone needs the internet, a self-service computer is at reception. A bar and restaurant with a covered terrace and dining room is open in summer for grills, homemade pizza and salad among its varied menu; you can also order bread and pastries in high season. Also available for guests is a motorhome service area at the Camping de Strasbourg entrance, to use free of charge.

Local attractions

Camping de Strasbourg is three kilometres from the historic centre of Strasbourg and excellently set for exploring the city on foot or by bike. The site has direct access to the city cycling route, and public transport to town stops in front of its entrance. Strasbourg calls itself the Christmas capital, as it's home to the oldest Christmas market in Europe (dating back to 1570), with extensive Christmas decorations and lighting, along with stalls of all flavours, mulled wine, the giant Christmas tree in Place Kléber, and the market's famed Christmas Bredele biscuits. Other areas to explore are the historic centre and the district of Petite France with its half-timbered houses and narrow streets, Notre-Dame Cathedral in the Old Town for spectacular views over the city, Place du Château, the Palais Rohan, Place Gutenberg, central square Place Kléber and the Place du Marché-aux-Cochons-de-Lait. Tours are available of Strasbourg's Palace of Europe, the seat of the Council of Europe.
