  • Friendly family-run touring park in spectacular Cornish countryside
  • Secluded yet well placed for local beaches (2.5 miles) and attractions
  • A short drive from restaurants and a traditional Cornish pub
There are reasons aplenty why Cornwall's Higher Trevaskis Caravan Park is a highly popular place for gratified guests. Its Hayle setting, for starters, in a nifty locale for getting around the top Cornish highlights and tackling the county's active options: it's only a few miles from sandy beaches at Godrevy, Gwithian and Porthkidney Sands for surfing, sunbathing and rockpooling, and within eight of St Michael's Mount for trips to one of Cornwall's most famed spots. The Eden Project, The Flambards Experience and Paradise Park all are within easy reach. Then there's all the little touches laid on by the thoughtful and friendly team, such as free mobile phone charging, spotless amenities, and a spacious family shower room with constant free hot water. Being thoughtful souls, there's wifi throughout the site (although patchy on some pitches). Views? But of course: Higher Trevaskis is in a scenic (and secluded) setting, and has plenty of pitch space among greenery galore and loads of room for play. Kids can ride their bikes around the park, tackle the swings and slides of the play area or challenge the grownups to a game of some sort in the sports field. Head to the basket swing, wooden climbing stack, wooden trim trail and sports field. After all that, get the barbecue sorted for peaceful evenings in this serene space: a small shop is on site for supplies, and a much-recommended farm shop/restaurant and a pub are a short drive away.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely welcoming site, lots of different areas making it feel like a small cosy site. It was really windy and it was nice and sheltered. Toilets/showers were immaculate. Great area, slightly away from the towns which was great and then only 5 mins drive to Gwithian and Godrevy.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: What a welcome! Dan showed me to my pitch (66) and had me hooked up in no time. Kept an eye out on me as I was on my own. Nice level pitch. WiFi was constant and great to work remotely from my van with. A big bonus. Shower block clean and waste management easy to access. The location of Higher Trevaskis is excellent. A 10 minute drive to the beaches at Gwithian and 30 minutes down to Marazion on the south coast.

Disliked: Having to leave!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Our 2nd time at the site and we have already booked up for next year. Lovely clean site with great amenities - constant hot water in all the showers and washing up areas! Site owners are visible and very friendly. Great size pitch even for our massive tent! Godrevy and Gwithian beaches are 5 min drive away for the surf, sand, rock pools and seals! Beautiful clear blue sea… stunning beaches. Can’t say enough about this camp site. Pleasure to stay there and so well situated if your visiting the south end of Cornwall.

Disliked: Nothing.

The owner was fantastic he went above and beyond to make sure you have a comfortable and pleasurable stay. This has become our Number 1 favourite Place to Camp now.

Liked: Everything, though we would choose a different pitch next time as we were very out in the open. Not a game changer though. Bathrooms, showers, washing up area very very clean. The ladies work hard.

Local attractions

There's loads of choice for attractions and activities with a stay at this fine and peaceful place, including Trevaskis Farm half a mile away, where you can meet the animals, have a meal at the restaurant or pick up produce at the farm shop. Nearby Paradise Park is a popular family stop around this part of Cornwall: have a morning around the wildlife sanctuary before letting the kids loose in the Jungle Barn play centre. Kids will also likely clamour for a day at The Flambards Experience near Helston, and for a delve into the many activities of the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, to meet the Vikings, learn how to sail and climb a 100ft tower. Beaches are a must in these parts too: the closest is Gwithian, two and a half miles away, with three miles of golden sand to laze around on, rockpools to thoroughly investigate, and waters popular for surfing. Other options are fab St Michael's Mount with its medieval castle and church, the arty vibe of Tate St Ives, and the giant biomes of the Eden Project, near St Austell.
