General

  • Adults-only site in a secluded hill setting
  • Small, peaceful and easily accessible from Craven Arms
  • In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Perhaps you’re a put-upon parent. Or an anguished auntie. Or one of those people who are scared of kids (well, they do ask such peculiar questions and also loudly point out one’s apparent weirdness in public). Or perhaps you are fond of small people but only in small doses. Whichever category you fall into, if you’re looking for an adults-only space for your hols, Greenway Touring Site should fit the bill.

(And if the thought of other humans is making you shudder, Greenway is in the Corvedale hills in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with miles of solitary walks and sightseeing in all directions.)

The park is small, friendly and peaceful but is easily accessed a couple of miles along the B4368 from Craven Arms, is nine miles from historic Ludlow and is within reach of the Welsh border for days’ worth of grown-up sightseeing and shopping. It's well landscaped and on a gentle slope.

Craven canine company? Dogs are welcome.

Please note

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

If using a satnav to find us, you may be directed down a small lane that is not suitable for motorhomes or caravans. Please follow the directions stated on our Pitchup.com listing and your booking confirmation email.

Poor shower area for a cc site

From the manager...

We are a small independent rural site surrounded by views of the Corvedale Hills but less than 2 miles from Craven Arms.
We have 2 complete bathrooms (shower, toilet and washbasin) 1 individual shower and wash basin and 2 individual toilets with washbasins. This number exceeds the minimum requirements for a site our size.

Small site that has retained the outdoor feel

    Disliked:

From the manager...

We try to be flexible with our grass pitches so that we can give the grass time to recover between guests and accommodate guests with their pitching levels and angles to capitalise their outlook over the views.
There are plenty of mature trees to provide privacy and encourage wildlife.
We are trying to provide guests with everything they need without loosing the rustic feel / charm or becoming too regimented and commercialised.
We are a small independent rural site with established trees and quirky natural areas dotted around the site and that is how we intend to stay.

Would have been a 10 had there been an option of separate loos or more loos to avoid queues at busy/peek times.
Lovely site friendly people easy access. Would revisit in the future & recommend for a 'get away' place

From the manager...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at our site.
We do have plans to add extra toilets in the existing toilet block, as we are aware that occasionally people may have a short wait during really busy times. Regardless of the number of toilets and showers we have unfortunately if the majority of the guests all want the toilets and showers at the same time there will still be an occasional wait.
We are giving consideration to a 2nd toilet block but will require planning permission for this.

Thank you for your review.
We are a scenic retreat for adults only (dogs are welcome too) set in the countryside so you do get a chance to enjoy the countryside / nature.
We do try to keep a small stock of things people may forget so don't be afraid to ask. Corkscrews are commonly asked for as every now and again people find a bottle of wine that is not a screw top.

From the manager...

We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Whilst we can control your stay's environment we can't control the weather which has been beautiful lately.
The surrounding hills provide a tranquil back drop to the site.
Whilst we are a rural site, we are not too far from shops. cafes, pubs, historic market towns, castles and buildings.
We are an ideal base for sightseeing, walking and cycling beautiful Shropshire.

Directions

Please take care if using a satnav as it may try to take down a narrow lane beside the site that is not caravan or motorhome friendly. The site entrance is directly off the B4368, 100 metres to the west shared with Upper Dichope Farm.

From Craven Arms: travel east along the B4368 for 1.8 miles, and the entrance is on the left at the centre of the wide grass verge.

From Ludlow: travel north along the A49 to Craven Arms, turning right at the second island by the estate agents.

From Shrewsbury, travel south.

The nearest bus and train stations are at Craven Arms.

Local attractions

Fans of history of all sorts will be in heaven here: Stokesay and Ludlow Castle are both nearby and the famous Ironbridge Gorge set of museums are within half an hour’s drive.

Craven Arms is the starting point for all sorts of Shropshire sightseeing, but stick around the town for a bit first to take in both modern history and popular culture at the Land of Lost Content, the world’s biggest archive of pop culture items from the twentieth century. Perhaps that’s where your Rubix Cube went…

Craven Arms is also home to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre for virtual balloon rides over the hills, mammoth-meeting and all sorts of info on the history of the hills. A famous local landmark, Flounders Folly, is just north of the town.

The 30 acres of the Onny Meadows start just outside the discovery centre with waymarked walking and bike trails including the Shropshire Way. Mountain biker? Head for Hopton Wood, the main mountain biking centre in Shropshire with three downhill trails and a warm-up loop.

There are gardens, a limestone quarry and a trout fishery in the grounds of Delbury Hall, just outside Craven Arms between Much Wenlock and Ludlow, with heaps more history in nearby Shrewsbury. The National Trust’s eighteenth-century mansion and deer park Attingham Park is here, as is the Norman Shrewsbury Castle with the Shropshire Regimental Museum. Plus over 600 listed buildings, medieval cobbled streets, and one of the tallest church spires in the country…

The market town of Ludlow in the Welsh Marches is another historic spot to spend a day or two, with a side trip to Ludlow Racecourse almost a must: well, horse racing is the ancient sport of kings. There are traditional, farmers’ and flea markets in Ludlow for further lightening of the wallet.

And then north to Church Stretton…stop off at the Acton Scott Estate with its historic working farm to see how farmers did it in yesteryear, try the archery for which the town is famous, or take off from the high hills of Long Mynd for hang gliding, gliding and paragliding; one of the highest golf courses in the country is here too.
