  • Quiet retreat on 13 acres of land edging the scenic Lizard Peninsula
  • A half an hour walk to Swanpool beach and the South West Coast Path
  • Well-equipped cabin with ensuite double room and private outdoor space
It’s always a quandary whittling down where to haul yourself for a hol in Cornwall, but this quiet retreat is likely to be high up on the list. Wild Eyedeer’s cosy cabin is set on 13 acres of farmland in the Maen Valley, a half-hour walk from the South West Coast Path and Swanpool beach. The park is also on the edge of the lovely Lizard Peninsula and close to Falmouth’s shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as being a 10-minute drive from dolphin watching at the Helford estuary. Once you've (hopefully) snapped some shots of the sea beasts, head home to sprawl out on the benches at your private verandah or on the decking opening up to the garden. There's a firepit to keep you warm, along with two dining tables and chairs for indoor and outdoor use. Inside, the cabin is stylishly designed and equipped with a kitchen corner, a dining table and chairs, and a radio. At the far end is a comfortable double bed, made up for your arrival, along with a small single bedroom that's just right for a kid. The ensuite facilities include a toilet and a separate wetroom with a small bath with overhead shower; there's no TV but you can bring a laptop or tablet and stream shows using the free wifi. In the mornings, Fen and Jeremy are on site to welcome you and see if the chickens have laid some eggs for your breakfast. Alternatively, order food in one of the cafés at Budock Water, a small village three miles away with a handful of eateries and a few independent shops. The cabin has adjacent parking and is accessed via a long driveway through farmland.

Fisher's Hut 2 bedroom cabin

Liked: We had the most fantastic time staying at the Fisher's Hut, it was so peaceful. The hut was beautifully furnished and was to a high standard. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Disliked: The only difficulty we found was my husband (who is fairly tall) had to duck when coming in and out the hut, but he soon got used to it. Despite this, he said he would definitely stay again, as it added to the quirky nature of the place.

Fisher's Hut 2 bedroom cabin

Liked: We love the peace and tranquility at Fishers Hut. There are always little rabbits outside the hut and on the track and they're just beautiful to watch. For us its the tucked away-ness which appeals, it offers a real break if you're living busy hectic city lives like us. Having said that, it's close to all the lovely little places around Falmouth and a good location to see many of the beautiful parts of Cornwall. The hut itself is very cute and cosy. The bed is just dreamy and we sleep like logs when we stay! It offers all you need in the way of facilities and is equipped enough to cook a lovely roast! The owner is always helpful and friendly and goes out of her way to make us feel really welcome. This time we had a congratulations on your wedding card as she had remembered it was our honeymoon! Beautiful attention to detail and that personal touch too to make it extra special. We would definitely recommend a stay here. Its a real opportunity to go back to our childhood holiday haunts and evokes special memories for us always. Fully recharged and feeling very grateful now we're home.

Disliked: The only thing that we feel could make it better is if the heated towel rail was working. It's a bit tricky to get towels dry when it's damp and you're unable to put them outside.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review we sincerely appreciate it. I am sorry the towel rail didn't work for you. I will have that checked immediately. As I wasn't aware there was a problem. There is a iron maiden tucked under the bed and we also offer the use of our Fisher's Hut washing machine and dryer for any guests who require them. I am sorry you weren't aware of this either as I could easily have ensured you had dry or fresh towels. Thank you for staying with us again. Fen and Jeremy

Fisher's Hut 2 bedroom cabin

Liked: We really loved this cute and quirky accommodation. Beautiful, quiet, private location. The owner called to let us know when it was ready for us which was a couple of hours before the advertised check in time. Everything was lovely and clean and the tea, milk and biscuits were a nice touch! Our son loved the fact that the owner's dog, whom the hut is named after, roamed freely and they became good playmates! Great position for exploring the local area - we hardly spent any time in the car during our 4 night stay, everywhere we went seemed to be 5-10 minutes drive away! It's in very easy reach of some beautiful places. The village pub is a short walk away and had a nice new sheltered outdoor area. Staff and locals were very welcoming.
