  • RV park close to shops and restaurants in Ashton, Idaho
  • An hour's drive from Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks
  • Advice available from lodge staff on tours and activities
If ever you needed an excuse for a new camera and/or binoculars, a bit of time nesting at Eagle Peak RV Park should do it. Should the location of Ashton, Idaho not sound immediately familiar, perhaps the of the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park will be? Both stunningly scenic parks are easily accessed from this small rural town, whether you choose to roam under your own steam or join group explorations. If the parks’ combined whopping 4,000 square miles or so leaves you a little overwhelmed with choices, have a word with the experienced staff at the lodge – they’re happy to help out, pointing you towards the pick of the parks’ hikes, bike trails, fishing spots and natural attractions or putting you in touch with various activity providers. Tire yourselves out as much as you like on your trips, for there’s plenty of space to relax around the park upon return, and eats are just a couple of minutes’ drive away in the town centre (although you’re welcome to light up a barbecue on site if you fancy a cookout).

Local attractions

As over three thousand square miles, 67 known species of mammals, 330 bird species… pretty much everything about Yellowstone National Park (an hour away) is on an epic scale. You could spend many, many days (or weeks, or months) here and not see the whole lot, so it’s worth joining tours or taking local advice on the pick of the crop. Smaller but equally packed with stunning views (and a similar journey away) is Grand Teton National Park, home to the mountains of the Teton Range. Across both parks are heaps of scenic hikes and drives, along with activities including horse riding, climbing, fishing and snow sports. Take a break from the parks by sticking a bit closer to home for more outdoorsy antics: play a round of golf 15 minutes away, drive dune buggies in Saint Anthony (20 minutes) or splash your way down Snake River on a kayaking, tubing or rafting trip from Ashton.
