  • Family park in the Twente region, a few minutes' drive from Germany
  • Recreational pond with beach and a bungee trampoline
  • Go-karting, indoor play, heated pool, fishing pond and restaurant
Ever wrestled with an unruly toddler while on hol? How about an unruly teen? Those nodding sadly and sagely at either/both will be stoked with the setup at Camping de Rammelbeek: from water activities to beach basking, web surfing to go-karting, there's stacks to do for all ages at this family site. Watery stuff first: Camping de Rammelbeek is home to a recreational pond with a sandy beach, a bungee trampoline, and regular events including marshmallow toasting and sandcastle building. Then there's the heated indoor pool – with accompanying paddling pool and toys, natch – and if this all gets a tad too much, you can retreat to the fishing pond for quiet angling time to land carp and other specimens. Also at your family disposal are go-kart, bike and canoe rental for zipping around the site and surroundings; an indoor playground so the kids can be kept busy in all weathers, and fibre optic wifi throughout the site so teens are suitably occupied too. Regular entertainment and activities for all ages run in high season, including trips off site to the local observatory or brewery – perhaps not this last one for the kids... The restaurant – but of course – has menus to suit all ages; if you want to eat out or fire up a barbie, Camping de Rammelbeek's Overijssel province and Twente region setting is under five minutes' drive from the shops and restaurants of Lattrop-Breklenkamp. It's only a mere couple of minutes' drive from here to the German border too, for ticking off two countries' worth of cuisine on one trip.

Local attractions

Camping de Rammelbeek is in the Twente, the most eastern part of Overijssel, with easy access to traditional villages, old castles, country estates and nature reserves, many reachable by bike. A public pool, pony rides and more indoor play are all nearby: the site team can point you and the kids in the right direction. You should certainly set off for a trip to Germany while you're here, if only for the boasting rights of pedalling across the border. The Lower Saxony town of Nordhorn is six kilometres away by bike (nine by car) via Frensdorferweg and Ootmarsumer Weg; once you arrive, there are peaceful places aplenty along the canals for ambles, picnics and nature spotting. Tierpark Nordhorn/ Nordhorn Zoo should also be a hit with most ages: there are over 100 species of animals here across several different zones, alongside entertainment options including a playground and a petting zoo.
