Local attractions

To the lake, of course… among the many activities available at Lake Maggiore are sailing, kayaking, waterskiing and fishing; also take (much) time to explore the tiny towns around the shores and overlooking the Borromean Islands that the lake is famed for. Horse riding is popular in these parts too: ask the Camping Smeraldo team for details. The medieval towns of Ronco, Pella and Omegna are all within driving distance, while those looking for some Italian shopping can drive up to Varese, Verano Cusio Ossola and the region's capital Novara, the most populous city in Piedmont after Turin. Around the Piedmont region, visit one or two of its 56 national parks, investigate its Alps, or go along for the day to its capital Turin.
