  • Famiiy-friendly site in Punta Marina, with direct beach access
  • 15 minutes' drive from UNESCO-listed historic sites in Ravenna
  • Excursions, yoga classes and kids' activities organised for guests
There’s a really rather pretty gym at Pini Family Camping Village. No, don’t flee screaming – take a quick look at pics, per favore, to see the beach-view fitness area that may well tempt even the most ardent treadmill denier up for a bit of gentle exercise on the outdoor kit or at a seaside yoga session. And what better reward for your efforts than trotting straight down to the beach to cool off in the sea before flopping out on a sun lounger to recover? There’s direct access to the wide stretch of sand from the site (even for those bypassing the gym kit), with free and paid areas to choose from, along with a playground, beach volleyball court and café to keep everyone happy for hours on end. Fancy a break from the beach? Head back to the main area of the site for games of table tennis or pétanque, or to hook up with fellow guests for sporting fun organised by staff – tennis, basketball and five-a-side football are regular fixtures here. Less competitive types can instead get shimmying at a dance class, hire bikes, sign up for walking or canoe excursions to the Po Delta Park, or go for a wander in nearby Ravenna. Those with energetic bambini along with them will no doubt also be pleased to hear that a busy programme of kids’ activities runs through the summer, and there’s a large restaurant with plenty of kid-friendly pizzas as well as local dishes and a well-stocked bar.

Local attractions

If you’ve even a teeny interest in history and/or art, you’d do well to make the 15-minute drive up to Ravenna (or take the bus for 25 minutes). The town (once the seat of the Roman empire) has a mighty eight UNESCO-listed historic sites, including well-preserved chapels and gorgeous colourful mosaics. Just outside Ravenna is the Mirabilandia amusement park, a fab family park with all sorts of shows and rides ranging from pulse-quickening freefall rides to soft play areas for the small sorts. On hot days, head to neighbouring Mirabeach for hours of splashing fun with the waterslides and water play areas. A 10-minute drive down the coast takes you to the Po Delta Park, a fab place for walks, bike rides, canoe trips and birdwatching. Wander freely under your own steam or have a chat with site staff for details of the trips they organise regularly.
