  • In a 700-hectare forest 10 minutes' drive from Vence and 35 from Nice
  • Forest trails and bike paths starting directly from the grounds
  • Pools, terrace bar, hairdressing service and 12 pétanque courts
Take your pick from woodland or sea, waterpark or old village in and around Domaine de la Bergerie in the Alpes-Maritimes. This quiet site is in the middle of a huge 700-hectare forest, and although the vibe is peaceful here, it's within 45 minutes' drive of vibrant coastal towns on the French Riviera including Cannes, Antibes and Nice. The old towns of St Paul de Vence and Vence are within a few kilometres too; for watery days away from the Riviera, the theme, water and marine park complex of Marineland, Aquasplash and Antibesland is within 30 minutes' drive (and reduced rates are available at reception). As the site is in the middle of a forest, plenty of forest walks, mountain biking trails and cycling routes start right from the grounds. Many swish facilities await on site, including the park's own hairdressing service so you can sort out your barnet (most handy if you're going to pose around Cannes for a day), an outdoor fitness area to keep everything else looking tiptop, and a full set of 12 pétanque courts. And there's yet more… Also around to keep you occupied are two fine pools, surrounded by greenery and with mountain views, a tennis court if you're feeling energetic, and – for leisurely afternoons and evenings – a terrace bar and takeaway. A shop is open from May to September to sell freshly baked bread, local produce, souvenirs, groceries, pharmaceuticals and other essentials. There are picnic tables on site for alfresco eats.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Very nice campsite with good amenities and had it been dryer we would have used the pool. Great countryside/forest location. Well kept and clean.

Disliked: Not quite near Vence but there is a great local bus into town which has all the amenities as well as having a larger medieval section with quaint restaurants and provides an enjoyable walk round the town. Hit water at the pots and pans section would be great. There is hot water at the clothes section ..

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Really friendly and well located site. The on-site morning boulangerie was fab! Some great cycling from there. Lovely villages nearby

Disliked: The electrics were poor. Didn’t feel safe and very fragile. We ended up paying extra for 4A but that didn’t change the vulnerability.

From the manager: Good evening, Thank you for your advice. You had first 2 Amps (440 Watts) and then 5 Amps (1100 Watts) not 4, as you had a water heater. But it is not the problem. Were you stay the problem was the rain and lightning and the area was fulled, and when someone use more power than allowzd by the fuse it could be also a problem for the other. We are sorry. Thank you for your coming and stay Best regards Josiane

Non-electric forest floor pitch

Liked: Fantastic reception and welcome. Very onto it. The resteraunt squeezed us in and was the best campsite meal in 5 weeks of touring Europe. Great stay -will return.

Disliked: Expensive to taxi into main beach Nice. We arrived on a Saturday and no buses running from camping to Vence. And with 4 children walking the 3km to Vence was difficult

From the manager: Good Evening, thnak you for your quotation. We would like to have the bus every day! But it was on Sunday. We enjoy to welcome you again... Best regards The Manager

Non-electric forest floor pitch

Liked: Friendly staff, clean facilities, use of local bus to nearby town for more routes out and about

Disliked: In the middle of no where (not their fault!) Pitches are all very different as it is in a forest, so would be a bit miffed if I had a smaller pitch for the same price as the much larger pitches.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hello, Thank you for your quotation. We understand what you mean, but all our pitches respect the french standard for a 3 stars campsite. So for camper with big campervan, caravan or tent, bigger pitches are needed. And we let you choose the place, it is quite different if we impose the pitch. And for pitches without electricity as we try to have the lowest impact as possible on the surrounding Nature, we have decided all pitches (type A without electricity) the same price. You are right we could have 2 prices one for the normal pitches and one higher for the biggest and quietest pitches :) Thank you for your stay, we hope to welcome you again. Best regards The front office staff

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Pool, blocks, restaurant and quietness

Disliked: Poor electric connection, and site was hard to get to up small roads. Long way from Nice

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Good morning, Thank you for your advice. You had reserved a pitch standard with electricity 2 or 5 Amps (1100 Watts) and chosen 5 Amps, if you wanted more it could be possible but not over 10 Amps (2200 Watts). We are never said we are in Nice, we azre 19km and with a camper it is very difficult to park, we rate always to take the bus, 2€ maximum one way. We hope to welcome you again Best regards Josiane

Local attractions

The site's setting amid a vast forest means hiking, ambling, mountain biking and cycling are all available from the grounds. You could also make your way to the local commune of St Paul de Vence five kilometres away, a medieval village atop the Plateau du Puy, with views over the surrounding hills and gardens, or to the historic town of Vence, on a rocky ledge four and a half kilometres away and with museums, galleries and easy access to spectacular walking and horse riding trails. By car, the famed Riviera town of Cannes, best known for its film festival and its celeb vibe, is within an hour's drive. The town's also home to a fine length of white sandy beach, eucalyptus groves, gourmet restaurants and food shops, and is the departure point (on the western side of the harbour) for boat trips to the nearby Lérins Islands isle of Sainte-Marguerite. Other excellent options in the area are Antibes, the port town with 16th-century ramparts, museums, cathedral, botanical gardens and narrow cobblestone streets, and Nice, the Alpes-Maritime capital at the foot of the Alps (both 40 minutes). For active adventures, go kayaking on the waters of the Loup river from La Colle-sur-Loup, 15 minutes away.
