  • Well-appointed and shaded family site in the La Rioja province
  • Around half an hour's drive from the attractions of La Rioja city
  • Large outdoor pool and shaded barbecue area with picnic tables
Should you be hunting high and low for a well-appointed site not all that far from the city sights and visitor attractions of La Rioja, you may well have found what you're looking for in Camping Luz y Fuerza, a peaceful and shaded spot half an hour's drive from the museums, shops, restaurants and historic sights of La Rioja city centre. Leisure on site comes in the form of a large and safely fenced outdoor pool, a play area with inflatables for bouncing and bounding around on, plus other playthings such as outdoor table football, a volleyball court, a TV room and a games room with pool tables and (more) table football, plus seasonal evening entertainment and kids’ club activities to keep the on-site amusement factor during your stay sky high. For food and drink not prepared by yourself, head over to the site’s restaurant and bar to eat in or takeaway, or if you’d rather save a coin or two for spending on souvenirs and other on-hol treats, the splendidly shaded barbecue area with picnic tables and built-in brick grills is as grand a spot as any to dine at. Pitches are grassy and shaded, and there are lots of cool green areas to sit down and relax at around the site too. Amenities here include a sanitary block with showers and toilets, a laundry room for sorting out smalls and swimsuits and a washing-up area at which to cleanse your pots and plastic picnicware.

Local attractions

The La Rioja’s province’s capital of the same name is a speedy 30 minutes’ drive from Camping de Luz y Fuerza La Rioja, making sightseeing and visiting attractions a cinch from this site. First off, a visit to the downtown district’s famed square, Plaza 25 de Mayo, will have you meandering around such sights as the Greek Roman-style Government House, the italian-style Social Club (take a peek inside for exhibitions) and the 20th-century Basílica de San Nicolás de Bari. Splendidly shaded and cool, this square is also framed by several restaurants and cafés, so particularly handy for when one is in the market for a bit of mid-sightsee sustenance. The city is also home to several good museums – take time out to wander around the five halls of Museum of Religious Art to see altars, statues, idols and artworks created in the style typical of the Cusco region. The Museo Regional Inca Huasi – considered to be one of Argentina’s most important – has a huge collection of almost 8,000 pieces from of indigenous tribes that inhabited the area prior to the Spanish colonisation, and the city’s folklore museum tells the story of life in La Rioja during colonial times. If you’re travelling with tiddlers, take them for a wander around La Rioja’s municipal zoo, or if you’re in the city sans children, the casino there is a fine place for a spot of grownup-friendly entertainment.
