See all facilities…Looking for a family holiday at one of the biggest parks on the mid-west Wales coast – with its own beach overlooking Cardigan Bay, oodles of entertainment options and chic caravans fitted out with all mod cons? Kids and big kids alike will be clamouring for a stay at the family-run Clarach Bay Holiday Village, with everything from fish and chips to fruit machines all to hand and with lashings of local attractions within easy reach.
The entertainment and attractions on offer at this family-orientated site include Barry, Sammy and Dewi for the littlies to make friends with, a seafront amusement area with arcade, shop, restaurant and mini fun fair, and the three-room Showboat Club with comedy, cabaret and theatrical shows to pick from.
For those of a more strenuous bent, there’s an outdoor sports court and an indoor and outdoor pool to work up a sweat at before having a virtuous snack at the ice cream and burger bar, or take a short stroll off site to Clarach’s beach for a wander to spot the local dolphins. The town of Aberystwyth is five minutes away, with a bus stop just outside the park.
Nearby attractions and activities
As well as Clarach South, beach fiends can find Aberystwyth North and Aberystwyth South beaches within a couple of miles. The north beach has donkey rides and children’s entertainment in summer, and Aberystwyth South has The Harbour Trap, popular with (experienced) surfers and Constitution Hill: climb to the café and camera obscura at the top if you’re feeling energetic, or take the Cliff Railway during the summer months for sweeping views over the bay.
Aberystwyth itself is a top spot for a day trip: as well as the seafront entertainment there’s the National Library of Wales to browse around, the Aberystwyth Arts Centre for theatre and live music, exhibitions and shows at the Ceredigion Museum, and access to a wealth of local walks and cycle routes including the Parc Penglais Nature Reserve and the Ystwyth Trail cycle path; the nearby Bwlch Nant-yr-Arian Forest Centre is a huge woodland site with activities, a shop and an information centre.
There’s loads to keep the littlies amused too: workshops and craft goodies at the Corris Craft Centre near Machynlleth, going underground at the abandoned slate mines with the Corris Mine Explorers, or sailing through the subterranean waterfall at King Arthur’s Labyrinth.

Liked: The caravan was clean and basic, quite cosy and sufficed for the week. Disliked: The musty smell of the caravan and the bathroom was a bit whiffy too. |

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. All feedback that we receive is greatly appreciated. However, there did seem to be a couple of contradictory statements within your review that I was hoping you could clarify. In the ‘Liked’ section you said ‘The caravan was clean and basic, quite cosy and sufficed for the week.’ In the ‘Disliked’ section you said ‘The musty smell of the caravan and the bathroom was a bit whiffy too.’ Surely, if the caravan was clean, there would be no must/whiffy smell present? To the best of our knowledge, you did not report the musty smell to us. If you had reported it I’m sure that we would have been able to do something about it. You also gave us an overall cleanliness score of 8/10 which we are very grateful for, but this does seem to contradict your ‘Dislked’ statement.
In terms of our ‘Facilities/Activities’ score you gave us 1/10 and I was wondering if you could provide us with further feedback so that we can improve things? Even though the park is quiet from mid June to mid July, all of our facilities including the club and swimming pool are open on a daily basis and there is a full evening children’s and adult’s entertainment programme that runs from 7:00pm until midnight, every night.
In your review, you also said that you would recommend our park to friends but you wouldn’t stay here again. Again, this seems slightly contradictory and I would be grateful if you could clarify this statement.
Finally, I would like to thank you once again for posting a review and look forward to hearing from you soon.
