Pretty much everything we need in a campsite

Liked: The peace and quiet, the toilet and shower facilities being cleaned from dawn until dark (not just dusk!), the option to walk down to the friendly and reasonably priced bar (sometimes we do & sometimes we don't), proximity to Narberth, Tenby & Saundersfoot, cheerful and helpful staff.

Disliked: Not much! Would still like the option to plug in my straighteners for 5 minutes but a compromise worth making for such an otherwise perfect weekend!

Liked: Lovely location, great heated outdoor pool (like getting into a warm bath!)
Quiet and peaceful on site.
Excellent customer service from all members of staff who we dealt with.
Lovely food from club and reasonably priced!
Whole site and facilities spotlessly clean.
Easy access to site and pitch.
Even opened club upon request to watch lions game at 10.30am! Thank you, much appreciated :)

Disliked: A few toilet cubicles and shower doors with locks broken (wasnt really an issue as site was quiet but would be at busy times)

Overall a nice campsite, clean with reasonable facilities

Liked: The site was lovely, very clean, set back off the main road. Shower facilities were good.

Disliked: No electrical points at all !! The club house only opened at 7.30 in the evenings so throughout the day whilst the pool was open there were no drinking/eating facilities. Very poor plus no entertainment in the evenings as stated in their advert. As there was no local pub for miles I would expect the club house to be open all day.

From the manager...

Thank you for your review of Grondre Holiday Park via pitchup.com, I would like to take this opportunity to address some of the points you have made.

"No electric points at all" indeed, as you have booked a tent pitch we do not offer electrical hook up - this is available to tourers only, however this is clearly advertised and the booking you made was for a non-electric pitch so I am a little confused as to why you have made an issue of this?

"The club house only opened at 7.30pm so throughout the day whilst the pool was open there were no drinking/eating facilities. Very poor plus no entertainment in the evenings as stated in their advert. As there was no local pub for miles I would expect the club house to be open all day."

Again as you have booked via pitch.up.com I am surprised at some of your comments, under our listing it does clearly state The Stable Inn pub, serving food to eat in or take away. (Limited opening hours during off-peak season.) Off peak is considered anything outside of school holidays which your stay was. With regard to eating and drinking facilities, soft drinks, water, ice creams and some food items are sold from reception, in addition whilst the pool area is busy reception staff and housekeeping staff will visit the pool area regularly and offer to serve customers from the club while they are in the area. In relation to evening entertainment I am confused as to the reference to an advert, if you are referring to our listing on pitchup.com again it clearly states evening entertainment is during peak season Visiting cabaret and evening entertainment during peak season. Given the dates of your stay I know there was link bingo and karaoke on offer on Friday night with link bingo and a visiting vocalist on the Saturday evening and the club house was open all day on Saturday and Sunday. As it happens the local pub is only 1 mile away and makes for a pleasant walk up the back lanes, although we could have happily guided you there had you asked you may have been disappointed to find they also do not open daily during off peak times.

Given that all facilities were open and in full working order during your stay I can't help but feel a rating of 3/10 for facilities is a little harsh, your main gripe seems to be the limited hours for the club house and lack of entertainment on weeknights, however as stated we are in off peak and the club is but one of many facilities on offer, indeed you have entitled your review "overall a nice campsite, clean with reasonable facilities" and commented on how good the shower facilities are therefore it seems unfair to give us such a poor rating for facilities overall when you're clearly more than happy with some of them. The price for the duration of your stay was £10 per night which we feel offers fabulous value for money and you would struggle to find a campsite locally with comparable facilities that offer such excellent value.

We are a small family run park and outside of peak times we do pride ourselves on offering a very peaceful get away, during peak season the clubhouse is open daily from 10am and there is nightly entertainment on offer including cabaret artists on some nights, the park is much busier overall and there is more of an up-tempo vibe to the park, perhaps in light of your comments this might be a better time for you to visit to get the most from your stay, we do hope to see you again.

Regards, Louise Lambert - Office Manager Grondre Holiday Park

Liked: We were looking for some where easy to access and family friendly. The park is just off a main road to no small single lanes to navigate through. Reception staff were a little cold but did there job. Small play area for our 4 year old to visit plus a club house. We didn't use the club house but heard others speak highly of it. The location was a big plus as there is ...

Disliked: Shower blocks were a little worn and could do with some TLC. There are a number of shower/toilet blocks to choose from which is a plus just need some updating.

Liked: Very welcoming & friendly site. Stayed over the Easter weekend and lots to do including Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. Park is very clean with the toilets and shower blocks spotless (cleaned numerous times throughout the day). Slightly sloping touring field with vans well spaced out. Clubhouse was lovely and although the pool wasn't open, I imagine it would be lovely in the warmer weather.

Disliked: Only a very minor niggle, the shower cubicles are quite small so not the best to shower, dry and dress with ease.

Liked: great site for children lovely warm outdoor pool great kids club my grandchildren had a marvellous time in grondre pity about the rain which turned the edge of the field in to a quagmire but the ground staff were on hand to help cars on and off the field and they put numerous bales of straw down so it was easy for me to get off the field when it was time to leave I ...

Disliked: The only thing this site lacked was a designated dog walk quite a few campers had their dogs with them myself included so it would have beengood to have some where to walk them as some campers let their dos mess on the edge of the football field and did not pick it up which is not good when children are playing there .

Liked: All the facilities available, (Kids play area, Pool and Arcade) Shower blocks very clean (although one of the blocks was out of order)

Disliked: No transport avaiable to on or off the park which was a shame as there are a lot of attractions near the vacinaty.
Possibly a bus could be arrange to pick up and drop of family's between the main attractions including Saundersfoot and Tenby at a small cost.
(Could possibly set up an arrangement where the cost of the transport could be split between Folly Farm, Oakwood and Vale Holidays for the up keep ...
