We are a peaceful, family owned rural site, ideal for families and couples looking for a relaxing break. Although we are situated in a rural area we are only 10 minutes from junction 36 of the M4.
We are ideally placed for visiting lots of attractions, whatever your interests. For example, we have two nature reserves within five miles (one half a mile away); are just nine miles from several beaches including Porthcawl, Ogmore by Sea, and Aberafon; and the Gower Penisular beaches are a 40-minute drive away. We have lots of ruined castles around the area and lots of industrial heritage such as the renowned Rhondda Heritage Park.
Not to mention shopping...we are 30 minutes' drive from the capital of Wales, Cardiff, and slightly closer to Swansea with its new marina. The McArthur Glen Designer Retail outlet is just 10 minutes away, just off junction 36.
We have an amenity building with free hot showers, toilets & privacy cubicles. A very popular facility is our great 'campers kitchen' which has lots of little extras such as a fridge, microwave, kettle etc to make your stay more comfortable.
We have a small shop on site selling basics, cold drinks, ices etc and some camping necessaries. We also have a section selling lovely shabby chic items, vintage Welsh Wool blankets and handmade crafts made by the family.
The site is still evolving, and work is ongoing to some areas in the form of landscaping and improvements to add to your enjoyment. We hope you will have a lovely, relaxing stay with us. Look forward to meeting you!

Beautiful views, quiet country side Eoghain M. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The beautiful scenery and the very peaceful surroundings. The toilet/shower facilities were good. Disliked: The entrance, it looked very run down and more like a scrap yard than a campsite with old vehicles scattered round. |

Good for short stays. Basic facilities. Diane R. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Site was very quiet. Enjoyed watching the chickens walking around the site. My daughter and I were not disturbed by other campers as there was a no noise policy at night. Disliked: Toilet/shower block were unisex. Shop didn't have set opening times and was closed all the time we were there. |

Good in parts... Rockie (Young couple, 2 reviews, 0 photos)
Liked: Good things included pleasant owners, not unreasonable prices and a convenient location. The free-range hens, while sometimes irritating, were mostly entertaining, and their eggs were delicious. They thought so too! Disliked: On the down side, the toilets and showers are looking very shabby. If they were new four years ago, they are really showing their age, and several of the fittings are broken. The toilet blocks are left with the light on all night, so you share your morning shower with hundreds of insects. The campsite is very small, so noise from other pitches is a real issue - you aren't going to get a tranquil ... |

Very friendly & helpful owners, great little site with good facilities & ideally located cathryn122 (Family with young children, 1 review, 1 photo) Confirmed ?
Liked: We especially liked the free range chickens, the peaceful setting & the new friends we made. Excellent site for exploring from as central to so many great places to visit. Disliked: badly behaved campers who had no respect for other people, fortunately they did not stay too long & we did not allow them to spoil our holiday. |

Great little campsite!! hatbat21 (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: We had a lovely time at Brynhyfryd Campsite. Both Lynda and Paul were great - very friendly, helpful and attentive. Lynda kindly rang us on day we were meant to arrive as the weather was torrential rain, so she just wanted to check we knew. Disliked: The rain! Though our second day was glorious sunshine! |

nice little site tracyvicker (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: we stayed at this campsite last night, and, as other reviewers have stated, the entrance isn't to welcoming, but once on the little site we found it lovely. The weather during the day was fantastic my one year old and three year old had great fun running around free amongst the chickens! The site was really quiet when we were there, a couple of other tents and a few caravans. It was our first ... Disliked: as others have said, could have benefited from a sand pit or slide/swings for the kids, but perhaps they will have them one day. we will definatley be back thanks x |

Peaceful and friendly site - Recommended initialyze (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: There is a small shop where you can buy eggs from the on site chickens as well as other basics like eggs and milk. Piping hot showers were very welcome. The site is set out of the way in a very peacefull location surrounded by quiet countryside but not far from the M4 with access to Cardiff, Macarthur Glen and the coast. Linda & Paul are very friendly and are working to increase the facilities on ... Disliked: My only comment would be the condition of the site entrance, but they were building an additional shower block so it was a little untidy. This should be completed now and I have already booked another stay to see how it has come on. |

Campsite under construction grancha64 (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: Very friendly site owners, chickens running free around site, fabulous free range eggs can be bought from camp shop. Showers are clean with piping hot water at all times. Disliked: Finding the site is almost impossible! As it's called Brynhyfryd Campsite, you would expect to see a sign for Brynhyfryd but no! Even when you arrive at the site all you see is a house with a sign outside saying "Caravan Club members only". We only discovered it when we stopped to ask directions, as did the couple in the pitch next to us. We thought on Sunday afternoon that we would take a ... |

I am sorry this camper had a negative experience and would like to address some of his concerns. Regarding the lack of sign, we are in the process of enlarging & improving the entrance so the sign was down, and we had to rely on the 'crudely' written paper sign. We always tell prospective campers not to rely on sat navs (notoriously unreliable in rural areas), but instead to enter our postcode into google maps, most people do this and arrive without difficulty. The 'loose' chickens, or free range hens to give them their correct name are actually one of the most popular things on site, people really enjoy watching their antics! We did have a problem with the loos, some children staying on site kept putting whole loo rolls down the pans and blocking them. They were dealt with promptly. The facilities are in a portakabin (just the 1, not 3 !?!) howver, they are freshly painted, cleaned regularly and are standard white fittings, not designer of course, but it is not the ritz! we don't have any broken down caravans, we have people who have older vans, but not everyone can afford or wants a brand new van. I'm afraid we cannot help the weather, it has been a dreadful summer, so it is not really surprising that the couple (whoever they were) looked 'glum'. I don't feel very jolly camping in the rain either! We apologise that nobody was available immediately to welcome these campers, but we have checked our books and we don't appear to have a booking for an extra large pitch on the 1st June which is when this camper said he arrived. If they weren't booked then we weren't expecting them, hence no one there on their arrival. We are quite a new site, just in our 4th season now and as such still have lots of work to do, but calling our site 'ugly' has upset me. We have planted 100's of trees and shrubs already and have made lovely little features out of natural stone for people to hopefully enjoy. We would just like to point out that we are a very small, family run campsite, we don't yet have 'chip & pin facilities' and we don't have any 'staff', just us sharing our lovely place to live. Finally, we would be the first to admit that perhaps some of our quirky ways do not appeal to some people, particularly if they are used to Club type sites with wardens policing the site and lots of rules & regulations. We are very relaxed about most things and are very flexible with campers, luckily most people appreciate this. Our hope is that you will have a lovely relaxing time, preferably sitting in the sunshine! Kindest Regards, Lynda, Paul & family
