Set in pastoral splendour alongside the River Ayr, this all-weather park has friendly new owners and accommodates tents, caravans, trailer tents and motorhomes on both hardstanding and grassy pitches.
Electric hook-ups grace many of the grass pitches at Muirkirk Caravan Site, there’s chemical disposal, plus cosy loos and showers (including disabled facilities), and a four-acre field can be made available for rally groups. Bar snacks and bevvies are on offer in the licensed club, which opens weekends and bank holidays, and often lays on live bands or other entertainment, too.
Nearby attractions and activities
Local commerces, including a Co-op, chippie and Chinese takeaway, are a short walk away in the village of Muirkirk, which also has a large children’s playground.
Fill your boots by hiking one of the many interesting walks nearby: the 67km River Ayr Walk follows the banks of the waterway which passes the park; for a shorter ramble, Twa Brigs takes in two historic crossing points, a Bronze Age hut and a fab picnic spot; or for a challenge, scale all 1,944 feet of Cairntable.
Golfers can tee off at the nine-hole Muirkirk Golf Club, anglers can chance their arm fishing some brown trout out of Glenbuck Loch, or on the upper stretches of the River Ayr (permits available locally), and petrolheads may be able to take in a rally stage or some motor tests at the East Ayrshire racing track.
Muirkirk is only 15 miles from the sea, and also in reach of the city lights and cultural attractions of Glasgow (40 miles away) and Edinburgh (50 miles distant).

Very pleasant site. Paul W. (Family with older children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Kids liked the rope swing, very clean and tidy, well cared for pitches. The site was quiet at night. Disliked: The only thing we can comment on being a problem was the lights in the mens toilets/showers could do with being adjusted as. They only stay on for around a minute before switching off. |

Quiet & clean campsite John H. (With friends, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The overall cleanliness of the site was really good and the toilets and showers were cleaned daily. The overall site was clean and at night there were loads of rabbits in the fields. Very peaceful site with not much noise although we had our own field. Disliked: The toilets and showers were on timer switches for lighting and this was somewhat annoying especially in the shower. The site was what i felt remote and a good half hours drive to the nearest large town although as it was our first time in Scotland this could be the norm. |

Great little campsite and excellent value! blowfish1302 (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: The park was very quiet and peaceful and we weren't disturbed at all. Toilets and showers were great but if using at night, I would recommend taking a torch as the timer doesn't really give enough time. Plenty of wild rabbits were jumping about which was lovely. Disliked: Timer on toilets - well, not that I disliked it, it was a mere annoyance! |
