Argyll certainly socks it to you when it comes to a view - and the jaw-slackening seascape at Point Sands Caravan Park, on the Kintyre Peninsula, is a case in point. Even better, around a mile of the sweeping sand and shingle beach is private to the park - so you’re more likely to encounter otters frolicking by the water than tourist hordes...
With seals and dolphins also regularly spotted splashing about, and resident herons and buzzards, Point Sands is paradise for wildlife fans; the site has its own wildlife pond and acres of woodland to explore. Little ones will also adore the Point Sands ducks, which regularly try to join in the fun at the children’s playground!
There’s a centrally-located amenities block (including baby changing, laundry and washing up areas) and a park shop where you can pick up a paper and a just-baked loaf, plus all manner of fresh produce, household provisions and other essentials (they even do Mr Whippy!).
Round off a perfect day of idling or sightseeing with fresh Kintyre scallops or Argyll steak burgers at the beachside café, as you watch the sun setting over the million dollar views...
