  • Luxury log cabins in Puck's Glen in the Argyll Forest Park
  • A 10-minute drive from Dunoon and 45 from Inveraray
  • Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen
Just how handsome are these? The poetically pretty wooden homes at Pucks Glen Lodges near Dunoon are of the luxury and heated variety, kitted out with lush touches like Egyptian bed linen, and all among the spectacular scenery, walkers' paradise and wildlife haven of Puck's Glen in the Argyll Forest Park. You'll be able to stride off into the scenic surroundings with ease from here, as the lodges are close to the Puck's Glen ravine, leading out to the Eachaig river and Benmore Botanic Garden. Elsewhere, drive a short distance to access more hikes around the forest, Loch Eck, the Cowal peninsula and the 57-mile Cowal Way from Loch Flyne to Loch Lomond, or head off on a day trip to Loch Lomond, Stirling or Glasgow, all within a couple of hours. All lodges at Pucks Glen are heated, double glazed and sleep up to four in their swish and handsome setting. The kitchens are fully kitted out, but if you don't want to cook, there are restaurants, cafés and pubs within a 10-mile radius, and supermarkets in the seaside town of Dunoon 10 minutes' drive away.

Local attractions

Potter along Puck's Glen and the ravine trail first up, followed by a stroll around Benmore Botanic Garden and its avenue of giant redwoods. A short drive will take you to more walks around Loch Eck, to the forest and glen paths accessible from the car park off the A815 (about six miles from Dunoon on the way to Loch Eck), or to the hiking and mountain biking trails around Bishop's Glen and the Dunoon hills. For wildlife watching, see if you can spy red squirrels and red deer around the site, or trot along to Dunoon's Holy Loch Local Nature Reserve to immerse yourself in the bird hide at Broxwood: curlews, oystercatchers and wigeons are all spottable around the waters from here. Around the Cowal peninsula, look out for basking sharks, dolphins and porpoises just off shore, or birds of prey including ospreys and golden eagles in the skies overhead. A cinema, swimming pool, tennis courts and a museum are in Dunoon; for a city day, Inveraray is about 45 minutes away.

Calltainn 2 bedroom cabin

Liked: AMAZING magical log cabin getaway. Felt so rustic, super warm, hot showers & had everything we needed. Couldn't fault our stay & felt like we'd really had a full log cabin experience. Best part was the cabin is located at the bottom of my favourite waterfalls called Pucks Glen & walking distance from Benmore Botanical Gardens. So much to do!
