'Discover the peace of nature amongst the dunes'
Clifden Camping real adventures !!
Free Shuttle Pick Up & Return from Clifden Bus Station.
Clifden's unique ecological 'Private Beach' Campsite & Caravan Park is nestled amongst the sand dunes on the Western fringe of Connemara, County Galway.
Our park offers campers a sustainable, cluster free, 'real camping' experience on eight hectares of coastal Machair habitat bio-diversity, with unparalleled panoramic Atlantic seascape views. The coastal Park, with its sheltered 'secluded private beach' is within easy walking distance to the stunning tidal Island of Omey.
We are ideally located, just ten minutes from Clifden town & two minutes from the small senic village of Claddaghduff between the beautiful Atlantic ocean & the majestic Twelve Bens mountain range, where rocks & Ocean collide!
If you are a passionate camper looking for a truly unique campsite on an 'ecological machair habitat site' with all the attractions of 'wild camping,' Combined with the safety and comforts of a modern camping park, our campsite is just what your looking for. Operated on a sustainable, green, environmental & ethical basis with a low carbon foot print..
Our Park is low in density & uncommercialized. Glamping & wild camping style plots are peaceful & privately spaced apart between 'marram grass' covered sand dunes, making your camping experience unique & more enjoyable! Enjoy the vast open space, natural beauty, sandy beaches, breathtaking sunsets, cosy campfires, under a star friendly big sky. All within the boundaries of an eco-friendly facility, that is a serene destination to unwind.
Nearby attractions and activities
Additionally, the site is almost surrounded by the sea & has the perfect on site location for all kinds of sea-borne activities including, safe swimming, excellent fishing, scuba diving, wind surfing, kite surfing, boating & the famous Streamstown Bay 'drift dive'. An excellent experience is the 'drift snorkle' from our sandy beach along the estuary of Streamstown Bay.There are beautiful coastal beach walks directly from the park, including walks to & around the tidal island of Omey.
Here at Actons, the night sky is spectacular due to limited light pollution on the grounds and with our eco-friendly fire pits you can star gaze along side a cosy campfire with marshmellow cocktails on our beach or adjacent your plot, all adding to the flare of excitement!

Beautiful, idyllic, stunning and almost wild nwilliam (Mature couple, 6 reviews, 0 photos)
Liked: This site is as close to wild camping as you can get with toilets and a shower. It's a special place with views all around that are just stunning. Disliked: Having to leave one of the friendliest places we've stayed. |

Lovely theturks (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: The beach was idyllic and brilliant for the kids. Beautiful clear water, full of fish and lots of shells on the white sand. Really quiet and our kids (aged 2, 6 & 8) had a ball. Kris couldn't have been friendlier and the toilet and shower facilities were basic but always very clean. If you like crowded, bustling campsites then this is not the place for you, but if you want to truly get away ... Disliked: The wind (on one of the 7 nights we stayed)! A wee campers' kitchen would be useful, but Kris was very helpful with freezing ice packs etc., so we managed OK. We also disliked that we didn't catch a glimpse of the local dolphins. Maybe next time! |

One of Ireland's hidden gems. Chris gave us the warmest of Irish welcomes and we felt like old friends when we left. Beautiful views, peace and quiet, lovely walks and pitches tucked away amongst the dunes. sueb (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: A real gem of a site: it really did feel like like wild camping with security and facilities (including hook up) thrown in. If you like all the bells and whistles of a big commercial site then this one is not for you, but if you really want to get away from it all then we would definately recommend it. Did I mention the sunsets? and the stars? and the (almost) private beach with pure ... Disliked: Not being able to stay longer |
