See all facilities…It’s a small secluded site near the very big stones of the Stonehenge World Heritage Site, and this fully landscaped park will have guests pitching up to high standards. The one-acre, family-run Stonehenge Caravan Park is the nearest camping, motorhome and touring site to the famous stones, and the plentiful facilities include sinks, a dishwashing area and a heated shower block with spanking new piping hot power showers.
There’s wifi available for campers – ask staff for the passcode – and campfires are allowed so you can have a Stonehenge singsong. The family pooch will love the site too, as it’s dog-friendly and there are enough good walks nearby to keep even the most energetic pet happy. And it’s open all year round, so perfect for autumn and winter breaks. There’s a strict noise and lights-out policy here, so this is the place to stay if you want to be up with the lark to visit the famous stones.
Foodwise a stay here is also up to standard, with eight pubs within walking distance dishing up top pub grub - The Boot Inn at Berwick St James and The Bell Inn at Winterbourne Stoke are the closest, both a level 5-10 minute walk away. An easy footpath walk away is the well-stocked Berwick Farm Shop for everything needed when Stonehenge camping, and there’s also a mini market and a supermarket within a short drive, as well as fresh eggs and meat available from local suppliers. And if you’re feeling particularly lazy, there are Chinese and Indian takeaways in nearby Larkhill and Amesbury which offer pitchside deliveries.
Nearby attractions and activities
The main attraction at this park needs no introduction, with the Stonehenge site just three miles away and nearby Avebury containing the biggest stone circle in Europe. The World Heritage Site of Stonehenge also includes Longleat, Stourhead Gardens and the medieval Salisbury Cathedral, over 400 feet high and with Europe’s oldest working clock. The county of Wiltshire has enough to keep all ages and interests occupied, from the Longleat Safari & Adventure Park to stately homes such as the Queen Anne Monpresson House.
Further afield but still within easy reach, World Heritage historyheads can also take a trip to the historic city of Bath to gawk at the Georgian architecture, get Darcy-like at the Jane Austen Centre or have a proper English tea at the Pump Room. Or there’s Bristol with the famous SS Great Britain and the award-winning At-Bristol interactive science centre, voted one of the top ten family attractions in the country. Kids will also go gaga over the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park with boating, falconry, an adventure playground and the Strawberry Line - the longest five-inch miniature gauge railway in the West Country.
Nature types should trip along to the New Forest, with its guided walks to learn about the wildlife and landscape, year-round events including country shows and carnivals, cycle and horse-riding trails, forest villages and seaside towns. Historyheads will still be kept happy in this part of the country with museums and centuries-old things to see such as the Beaulieu National Motor Museum and the Roman Villa at Rockbourne.
Once you’ve earned a long relax with all that sightseeing and nature-spotting, chill out by attempting the Stonehenge eight-pub challenge – aiming to visit all eight pubs near the campsite in one stay. All serve homemade food to ensure something to line pub crawlers’ stomachs, and some have skittle alleys or pool tables on hand too – something that definitely deserves to be on the cards after all that strenuous Stonehenge sightseeing.

Liked: The whole place is a newly landscaped place that is friendly and comfortable. Disliked: Well, nothing to dislike but a mistake in the booking system allows fox pod to be booked for 4 adults, unless one of you wants to sleep in a narrow gap on the floor it can only sleep 3 adults. |

Good - but watch for the campfires david l. (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The whole site was nice and well looked after. Disliked: We camped in a field adjacent to another where you could have campfires. Unfortunately, for the duration of our stay the non campfire field was down wind. A large family who pitched there didn't seem to move for four days and kept a fire permanently lit. The consequence of this is everything we own had to be cleaned and fabreezed on our return. Even the car needed a valet! |

Reject 4x4 Club pamela-golledge-bell (With friends, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: Loved everything about the site. The owner William is so friendly and helpful. Could not have asked for more. We, as an off road driving club, were made very welcome and had all our pitches together. We had stayed here before and since our last visit the caravan pitches have all had an overhaul and most are now hard standing which is brilliant. Disliked: There is nothing to dislike about the site. |

Great Location & Value For Stonehenge Summer Solstice SoCalMusicLover (Young couple, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: We had a very pleasant stay at Stonehenge Campsite. We are from the U.S., and came specifically to this area for the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge on Tuesday Morning June 21, 2011. The site was easy to reach via bus from the Salisbury train station, although you have to be sure to walk around the corner when leaving the rail station, to find the bus stop. Also, the last bus is at approximately 5 ... Disliked: Not easy to reach without car. Subject to bus schedule, which ends at 5:30 PM. |

Just great atmosphere, super-hot power showers, wash-up facilities with super-hot water, peaceful yet close to the A303 for transport links, great walks directly off the site - a real little gem.
