General

  • Small family-run touring park two minutes from Junction 22 of the M5
  • A couple of miles from the beach at Burnham-On-Sea
  • Easy access to the Mendip Hills, Weston-super-Mare and Glastonbury

Green, Somerset-based and adults-only: what a splendidly relaxed and smashingly scenic place this is – and all just a couple of miles from the beach at Burnham-On-Sea.

This small and family-run touring park is only two minutes' drive from Junction 22 of the M5 too, so bring your wheels and base yourself firmly here for some time around Somerset seaside days, handsome old towns, ancient sites (Glastonbury!) and green countryside and hills around which to ramble. Off further afield? Stop off here on the way to or from a holiday in Cornwall.

Greenacre Place Touring Caravan Park has a level touring field with grass pitches. Chemical disposal points are on site for guests' use, along with a toilet block and heated showers in large cubicles with wet and dry areas. There's also free wifi.

Dogs are very welcome, but please keep them on leads at all times on site.

A pub serving food is ten minutes' walk away; shops, pubs, restaurants, a supermarket, bus service and Highbridge train station are all within five minutes' drive.

Well maintained field with solar lights around the edges . The toilet s and showers were the cleanest and best decorated I have seen with the offer of using some of the shower gels soaps etc if you had run short or forgotten anything .
For a small site the owners have gone above and beyond making there quests welcome .

    Disliked:

The road noise can be a little distracting if pitched near the entrance as the A38 is right next to the site and entering and leaving can be a little difficult due to the traffic .

It's clear the owners have put their heart & soul into this place - there's so many lovely touches like wicker hearts, solar lights along each pitch, a real towel & toiletries in the toilets and GLITTER paint!!!
Good links to some great beaches - my two dogs LOVED the sand dunes in Berrow.
We only met one of the hosts but he was friendly and kind.
The site is quiet and friendly.

    Disliked:

So, lets talk the road (I can see the owners rolling their eyes now as there's absolutly nothing they can do about this yet it seems to be mentioned in every review which I appriciate must be really frustrating). The noise didn't bother me AT ALL and i live somewhere with no passing traffic at home, it didn't stop me falling asleep and when I was asleep it didn't wake me at all. The worry for me was that was nothing between the camp site and the road, this is very much a "me" issue rather than the camp site's but I camp with two dogs - one of which is a very easily spooked greyhound who when frightened can reach some serious speed and has a prey drive to boot (& there's cows in the field next door) so I just couldn't relax. The hosts were very understanding and gave us a lovely gesture even though they were no doubt in their head cursing another camper who didn't do enough research into their location.

Local attractions

Greenacre Place Touring Caravan Park is a mere two miles from the long sandy beaches of Burnham-On-Sea and within easy access of famed Somerset seaside town Weston-super-Mare, home of more sands, a most Grand Pier and Britain's only helicopter museum.

To the north is the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Mendip must not only for their viewsome hikes among the gorges and woodland rising up from the Somerset Levels, but also for the eye-wateringly fab Cheddar Gorge, carved into the hills and so gorge-ous it's been named as Britain's second greatest natural wonder (the Dan-yr-Ogof caves in Wales are first).

Going east will take you to also very famed Glastonbury, with its Tor, Chalice Well, 170 listed buildings and the Somerset Rural Life Museum; a short distance from there is the village of Street and to the north you'll find the tiny city of Wells.

Other top options are the county town of Taunton, surrounded by the Blackdown and Quantock Hills, and the Bredon Hills to the south-west, running all the way along to Exmoor National Park.

Must see

  • Cheddar Caves & Gorge (9.0 miles)
