If your camping destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm, which is an ideal base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. There are sparkling loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, marked-out pitches and a visiting fish and chip van at weekends – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too.
If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can buy gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – perfect if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.
Nearby attractions and activities
St Leonards Farm is one of the closest campsites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or have at it with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside.
Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town.
Kids will enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stop over point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross channel ferries.

A great place to stay Kim M. (Mature couple, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The location was lovely, very tranquil, lots of greenery. Ideally situated for visits to the New Forest and the Coast. Lots of amenities nearby, supermarkets and restaurants/pub 5 mins walk. Lots of lovely walks (we stayed with our dog, who had a fantastic time too!). The cleanliness of the site was brilliant and everything was well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. Disliked: There was not a thing we disliked. |

High Quality at Affordable Price Declan B. (With friends, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The campsite is a lovely well kept series of touring and tent pitches, all available at a very reasonable price. As a result of the price, I went thinking it was going to be very low budget (in particular the toilet facilities) but I was surprised to find that it was very agreeable with very nice facilities as far as campsites go! Disliked: The only problem I had was that the tent pitch we were placed in was situated close to a river, meaning that in the evening, insects did become a nuisance and I have a collection of bites to prove it! However this shouldn't be a problem if you come prepared for it! |

A wonderful weekend away in Camper Van paulbutler71619 (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos)
Liked: For our first time camping this site ticked all the boxes. From the moment we booked at short notice until we left the site to come home, we were made to feel very welcome by the campsite owners. Disliked: Could not fault anything even the weather was kind |

Liked: We wanted somewhere nice and flat, with easy access and with good facilities for our first camping trip. A very friendly team answered our questions without making us feel like dumb novices! Disliked: Nothing really - like a few reviews mentioned the noise from the road at peak time in the morning - but you would not get a camp site so close to everything and with such easy access unless there was a main road nearby and it is a trade off I would be willing to make to stay here again. |
