If your camping destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm, which is an ideal base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. There are sparkling loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, marked-out pitches and a visiting fish and chip van at weekends – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too.
If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can buy gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – perfect if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.
Nearby attractions and activities
St Leonards Farm is one of the closest campsites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or have at it with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside.
Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town.
Kids will enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stop over point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross channel ferries.

Great weekend at St. Leonard's!! Sara W. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: A fantastic bank hol weekend, helped by the glorious weather. Went with friends and their children too and we were altogether helping to make it a great trip together. Facilities were clean, well maintained and staff helpful and polite. The site was fairly busy but everyone staying near us were quiet and respectful of others around them. The children loved the freedom and the park. All in all, a lovely weekend with everything we needed ... Disliked: I didn't know we had to pay a £10 deposit for a gate pass, might be ignorance on my part when researching and booking but don't remember any mention of it, although it wasn't really a big deal, I just didn't actually have cash on me and couldn't do it on card, so had to get the remainder from hubby, so just would have got the cash out beforehand if ... |

Spotless showers and bathroom with a hairdryer and plug sockets which was a great relief ! Great location to restaurants supermarkets and only a few miles to bournmouth beach. Liked: Very nice pitches and well laid out. Nice toilet facilities. Very happy environment. Quiet, Well kept site. Easy sign in/out procedure. Really liked the fact of free pick of your pitch not demanded around. Disliked: There was no means of small supplies, really would benefit from a small shop on site for the little things needed as there is not a great local selection. Sign out front could do with being more obvious! Drove past! And theres not a great deal to do in walking distance or cycle of camp. |

Liked: I liked the site. nice and big and it was not too busy being early in the season. Toilets were clean and site in general was very well kept. Lovely playground for children and one of the fields was left empty for people to kick a ball in. (probably not the case in peak season. Very friendly staff and also rest of campers. Disliked: I cannot say I disliked anything, but if you are looking to improve the site, I might suggest a small hall (barn) to be constructed on site, with maybe an old pool table and table tennis to allow kids an area to meet and play. Occasionally could be used for organised functions and perhaps even contain a small tuck shop that sells a few cold drinks and snacks. (Shop only needs to be opened for ... |

Liked: Clean Toilets/Showers. Disliked: The signage on the site needs some thought and updating. Cheap basic old signs detailing the block locations and numbers need smartening up and the blocks need renaming as "dreamy locations" rather than A, B, C etc as this gives the feel of a Stalag, or prison camp. |
