Hemsford Yurt camp is located within a beautiful valley just three miles from the bohemian town of Totnes. Our Yurt camp is in a quiet corner of a three-acre field which also is home to a large lake and the river Hems runs through this field. This meadow is also home to a stable block and barn.
The yurt camp has two authentic Mongolian yurts, decorated with traditional designs, hand crafted by artisans in Mongolia and imported to the UK. The yurts are fitted with comfy furnishings and bedding, full sized beds and wood burning stoves. Situated a short walk across the small bridge at the bottom of the field is a chicken paddock, and accommodation can be provided for any horse owners wishing to bring their own horse for an unusual self catering holiday in Devon. The yurts have a shared toilet and washroom with shower, along with a camping kitchenette providing everything you need (apart from your food) for a self catering holiday with a difference.
The camp is off grid and has its own solar power supply. The lake in the yurt field is well stocked with trout, and is home to a huge number of flora and fauna, including wild ducks and geese, dragonflies, newts and pond skaters amongst the massive number of British indigenous species to be observed.
We can promise you dark skies in a glorious rural location. Our yurt camp is suited for those seeking quiet reflection in a peaceful yet easy accessible location.
Ideal for those who like to walk and explore either on foot, cycling, or even on horseback.
