Hemsford Yurt camp is located within a beautiful valley just three miles from the bohemian town of Totnes. Our Yurt camp is in a quiet corner of a three-acre field which also is home to a large lake and the river Hems runs through this field. This meadow is also home to a stable block and barn.

The yurt camp has two authentic Mongolian yurts, decorated with traditional designs, hand crafted by artisans in Mongolia and imported to the UK. The yurts are fitted with comfy furnishings and bedding, full sized beds and wood burning stoves. Situated a short walk across the small bridge at the bottom of the field is a chicken paddock, and accommodation can be provided for any horse owners wishing to bring their own horse for an unusual self catering holiday in Devon. The yurts have a shared toilet and washroom with shower, along with a camping kitchenette providing everything you need (apart from your food) for a self catering holiday with a difference.

The camp is off grid and has its own solar power supply. The lake in the yurt field is well stocked with trout, and is home to a huge number of flora and fauna, including wild ducks and geese, dragonflies, newts and pond skaters amongst the massive number of British indigenous species to be observed.

We can promise you dark skies in a glorious rural location. Our yurt camp is suited for those seeking quiet reflection in a peaceful yet easy accessible location.

Ideal for those who like to walk and explore either on foot, cycling, or even on horseback.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

Hemsford Yurt Camp caters for quiet family holidays. Sound travels a long way in the countryside at night and we would ask that you respect fellow visitors and distant neighbours and therefore we request that noise be kept to a minimum in the late evenings. No amplified music and no shouting or rowdiness after 9pm. We ask that groups pay special attention to this.

If this restriction might limit your holiday requirements then please do not book.

Welcome Pack

Please read our guide in each yurt to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Animals

Hemsford House is a smallholding so there are chickens, horses and other animals that live here too, we therefore do not allow dogs or other pets on site. Please keep all gates shut and observe the country code.

We do our very best to provide a safe environment. Please be responsible for your children's safety at all times, especially around hot stoves, camp fires, the river and lake. Please keep fires small and manageable. Please be aware of naked flames; please keep candles inside the lanterns provided.

Small Children and Babies

A cot and a high chair can be provided if required at a small extra charge, please ensure this request is marked clearly as a 'special request' on your booking form. You will have to provide your own cot bedding.

Arrival

Your yurt is available from 4pm on the day of your arrival. It is not possible to have access to the site before 4pm. If you plan to arrive after 8pm then please let us know. On arrival please ensure you read the welcome pack in the yurt.

All yurts are non smoking.

Please always remove outdoor foot wear before entering the yurt. If after 8pm please contact us for access details.

Departure

On the day of your departure please leave the site before 11am. You are kindly asked to leave everything in a clean and tidy condition. Thank you.

Damages

On arrival we require a cash or cheque deposit for 'yurt damages' of £150 which will be returned to you at the end of your stay, if there is no major damage to the yurt or contents.

Serious accidents

We cannot accept liability for any personal injury loss or damage which may be sustained by your party or their guest or their property during your stay at Hemsford Yurt camp. You will be held responsible for any serious damage or loss sustained to property during your stay.

Group bookings

The organiser of a group booking is responsible for coordinating all balance payments.

Yurt capacity

It is a condition of your booking that the total number of adults in your party should not exceed the adult capacity of the yurt as advertised and should correspond with your booking. For more information or to ask about numbers of children over and above the guideline capacity, please contact us. We will also consider requests for your own tents to be erected along side your chosen yurt by prior arrangement, however there will be an additional charge for this facility.
