  • Peaceful site in a secluded setting with Dartmoor views
  • Three miles from Okehampton and its shops and castle
  • Adults-only haven for hikers, cyclists and nature spotters
A serene spot with spectacular views and plenty of space… buzz along here for the lot. It's only three miles to the old town of Okehampton from Honeybrook Camping, but this peaceful place is secludedly set in quiet countryside – all the better to retreat to after active hours out and about. There's loads to do around this part of Devon: a five-minute drive will take you to Dartmoor for hikes, bike rides, climbing and heaps more, or to the pretty Granite Way cycle path running for 11 miles between Okehampton and Lydford. If you seek sand (and yet more stunning scenery), the beach at Bude is within 45 minutes; if you crave Cornwall, you can get to Boscastle in about 50. The adults-only pitches at Honeybrook are on a large and level field on a quiet country lane, with plenty of room to ramble about. A water tap and portable toilet are on site for guests' use. This is a family-run place where noisy parties or stag/hen dos aren't allowed – there isn't even traffic noise here, so peace reigns all around. Pick up supplies in Okehampton a short drive away, where there are supermarkets for all budgets as well as a cinema and indoor pool to keep you occupied on non-Dartmoor days.

Local attractions

You'll likely yearn for the tors and open landscapes of Dartmoor first, so mosey along to the closest visitor centre (40 minutes' drive away at Yelverton for info on the huge amount of stuff to see and do. Hiking and biking trails meander all around the national park for walks and bike rides as relaxed or challenging as you fancy; more actively, you can plunge into whitewater kayaking and canoeing on the River Dart, canter around on horseback or arrange a session of gorge scrambling via the activity centre in Okehampton. Also consider clambering one or two of the famed Dartmoor tors – Haytor, 55 minutes' drive away, is particularly fab for the particularly fab views from its top. After all that, rest your weary self with a gentle amble around Okehampton, to town highlights such as 11th-century Okehampton Castle and the Museum of Dartmoor Life, telling the tale of these ancient parts and their people. By car, other top Devon destinations include Castle Drogo and RHS Rosemoor, each 30 minutes away; the old sights of Exeter (40 minutes), and Buckfast Abbey, reachable in 55 minutes from Honeybrook.
