We have a shepherd's hut, yurt and two bell tents situated in a field beside a stream and three lovely lakes in a beautiful Devon valley on our organic beef and sheep farm. Each unit is fully equipped with cooking facilities and has a cosy double bed with all bedding provided and woodburning stoves using wood coppiced from the trees on the farm. Toilet/shower blocks are within easy reach of the accommodation (flushing toilets and hot showers).

There is parking on site for several cars and coarse fishing on the adjacent lakes - please bring your own equipment (Environment Agency licence required). We are perfectly situated for peace and tranqulity yet a 10-minute drive in any direction from the market town of Newton Abbot, the port of Teignmouth or Torbay the English Riviera.

We are two miles from beaches with water sports and fishing, and the dog friendly beach at the Ness, Shaldon down the smugglers' tunnel. Within 15 minutes' walking distance is our nearest pub, serving real ales and exellent food, or we are five minutes' drive from another four other country pub / restaurants, all of which are very good. Within 30 minutes' drive you can be in the wilds of Dartmoor.

There are many lanes and tracks for walking or mountain biking in and around the Rocombe valley.

Other attractions within driving distance include Paignton Zoo, Kents Cavern, Babbacombe Model Village, Woodlands near Dartmouth, Crealy Park near Exeter, Haldon Forest (Go Ape), Shaldon Zoo, Brixham Fish Market. We are a two-hour drive from the Eden Project in Cornwall.

Get directions

From the A380, come to the Penn Inn roundabout at Newton Abbot. Take the first exit for Combeinteignhead. Follow the road until you reach the village, take a right turn by the small garage sign posted for Stokeinteignhead.

You will go past a pub on your right called the Wild Goose. Follow this road for about a mile then turn right along the road signposted for Rocombe. Along here you will come to another junction, follow the road to the right and you are now in the Rocombe valley. Stay on this road for about half a mile and you will find Rocombe Valley Retreat on your right.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

Animals - Springfields Farm is a working farm so there are cattle and other animals around. We do accept well behaved dogs as long as they are kept on a lead and are cleaned up after. Please keep all gates shut and observe the Country Code.

Safety - we do our very best to provide a safe environment. Please be responsible for your children's safety at all times, especially around hot stoves and camp fires. Please keep fires small and manageable.Please be aware of naked flames, please keep candles inside the lanterns provided.

Arrival - your yurt is available from 3pm on the day of your arrival. It is not possible to have access to the site before 3pm. If you plan to arrive after 8pm then please let us know - thanks.

Departure - on the day of your departure please leave the site before 10am. You are kindly asked to leave everything in a clean and tidy condition. Thank you.

Damages - on arrival we require a cheque deposit for ’damages’ of £100 which will be returned to you at the end of your stay, if there is no major damage to the equipment.

Serious accidents - we cannot accept liability for any personal injury, loss or damage which may be sustained by your party or their guest or their property during your stay at Rocombe Retreat, except where it arises from the negligence or wilful default on our part. You will be held responsible for any serious damage done or loss sustained to property during your stay.

Pitch capacity - it is a condition of your booking that the total number of adults in your party should not exceed the adult capacity of the tent/hut as advertised and should correspond with your booking.

Lost property - any property left behind will be returned by post on request only. All lost property will be kept until the end of the season and then disposed of.
