Ruda Holiday Park
FavouriteSick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, you can unzip your sleeping bag, take a great big gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves... Ruda Holiday Park is in the perfect spot to make the most of the surfers' paradise of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast, sitting right alongside the sweeping sandy bay.
Croyde is a world-famous destination for surfers, and it’d be ruda not to have a go while you’re here. You can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and qualified instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons.
If the weather puts the kibosh on splashing around in the great outdoors, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydro jets and one humongous slide...
This site is great for children of all ages, with beach games laid on throughout the summer, a soft play area, an outdoor playground complete with obstacle course, and very bouncy kids' clubs: tots can make their own musical instruments for a boogie with Sid the seagull and Lizzie the lizard; four- to ten-year-olds can star in their own superhero movie, or get stuck into nostalgic funfair sessions featuring a coconut shy, tin can alley and the like; and there are DJ workshops and plenty of other age-appropriate action for tweens and teens in the Freestyle club.
Last but not least, as with all Parkdean sites, you’ll find a good choice of on-site food options (Ruda has the added bonus of a beach café and ice-cream parlour), plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.
Nearby attractions and activities
Don’t miss the chance to explore the glorious Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point, where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views, a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the imposing dunes at Braunton Burrows.
Croyde itself is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and cafés - and, of course, surf shops.
There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands-on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric - but fun - day out (sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone?).

Liked: the concenience of getting to the beach for body boarding, the convenience of facilities on site and the fact that we didnt move ourt car all weekend ! everything available to hand if you should need it. Disliked: the showers look fantastic but the water pressure was very variable - usually low and the water was then very hot. |

Great holiday park! sharon p. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: Everything. The location is fantastic, so near the beach. The entertainment was great, especially for the children. We were camping, but I had family staying in the beach apartments which were lovely and so convenient. Disliked: Perhaps there could be a bit more choice in the restaurant, I think there were only 4 main meals to choose from. |

Liked: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the pitches were an excellent size and proximity to the beach was and to town was ideal. Disliked: Noisy neighbours drinking until the early hours, perhaps having separate areas for families with young children, would alleviate this issue. The campsite costcutter shut at 1800hrs which was a little early. |
