Stithians Lake Campsite

8.8 Favourite
From £13 (for 1 night, 2 adults)   Why not enter some details and get an accurate price?

You’ll get flapping brilliant views from your tent at this site, where the pitches look out over the 275-acre Stithians Lake.

There’s loads of space around the site for family games and picnics, as well as a pirate-themed children’s playground, walking trails around the lake and a bird hide for confirmed and wannabe twitchers.

The range of activities on offer at Stithians Lake Campsite makes the site ideal for groups. The limpid waters offer excellent sport for fly fishermen, who can cast from boat or bank for sizeable brown and rainbow trout (rod licences required for the over 12s). Pedal-driven recreationalists can cycle along the surfaced route to the dam.

Visitors can try out a wide range of watersports with the help of the jovial, qualified instructors at the Outdoor+Active centre. Windsurfing, sailing, rowing, kayaking and walk-on-water balls are all on offer, and guests can bring their own kit or rent it on site. Back on dry land, campers can also do some climbing, or have a shot at archery.

Hungry tums can rid themselves of the rumbles at the on-site café and refreshment kiosk, or partake of the homemade specials on the menu at the Golden Lion pub, a mere 100 yards away.

For further activities, check out the local indoor swimming pool and gym, the crazy golf at Swanpool Beach, and the energetic escapades to be found on the many other golden sands nearby, from coasteering to scuba diving.

Nearby attractions and activities

Stithians Lake is very close to funky Falmouth, where guests can continue the watery theme with a visit to the dockyards and National Maritime Museum, take a tour of Henry VIII’s seaside cottage, Pendennis Castle, or just indulge in some retail therapy.

Horticulturalists will find plenty of inspiration at the nearby Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens, and animal fanciers will go barking mad over the seals, sea lions, otters and penguins at the National Seal Sanctuary in Helston.

Disliked: The only thing I disliked was the fact that we couldn't stay longer!

Liked: Plenty of activities on the lake
Great pub close by
Clean facilities
Friendly and helpful staff
30 minutes to the north and south coast beaches
During the weekend of our visit the site hosted two regattas and a triathlon which meant it was very busy. As a result it was not possible to use the lake and you had to time a visit to the facilities carefully. But this was a minor inconvenience and did ...

Disliked: Nothing. The sun shone all week.

Liked: The area and the lakeside touring field, quite well kept and organised. plenty of open space and picnic areas, fly fishing, canoeing, walking and nature reserve around the lake. cafe on site.

Disliked: The toilet and showers are suited for the watersport and leisure persuits rather than the campsite users, ie communial showers.
Very noisy most weekends with events on the site. No grey water point.

Liked: The site itself is quite small which means the facilties are easily accessable. Staff were really helpful and friendly.

Though read bad reviews regarding the shower facilties I found them good. As site was not overly busy quite often found myself alone in the block.

Would recommend as we are thinking of going back in the new year.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: The friendly atmosphere and polite staff and the amenities were very good. If the toilets were not up to standard or had issues the staff rectified the problem straight away. All the facilities were very good and there was always someone to help if you had problems either on site or on the lake itself. A very good site for those with an interest in water sports.
The camp-site was not overly busy and everyone ...

Disliked: Could benefit from an onsite shop for campers, although it wasn't very far to the nearest supermarket. There is a cafe onsite however whilst camping boiling the kettle on a stove is part of the fun.

Could also benefit by accepting student and forces discount.

More information on the local area, walks, sea activities and activities for children would have been beneficial. I hope you find these comments beneficial.

Liked: on opening the tent up in the morning the view was lovely across the lake.
not that far from the main superstore and town for all your shopping (need to use transport though as it a little far to walk )
the beaches were all reachable within a 20 min drive.
the toilet and shower facilites were really up to date and clean and also has its own washing machine and was not at all expensive ...

Disliked: we had no dislikes

Liked: The site was level with easy access. pitches were of good size though not hard standings, but even though it had been a wet few days the ground was still suitable for a heavy motor home. There is plenty of activities for those energetic types on the water and for those less so, fishing and walking. The site and facilities were very clean and of good standard. the showers were hot and plenty of water ...

Disliked: The shower facilities whilst of high standard were not very private, with communal changing area used for boaters etc. Although there are a couple of cubicles, you need to be prepared to display yourself in the buff to all those in the room in order to reach them.

Liked: My daughter loved the climbing wall and the rock!
The fact that there wasn't any set pitches so we could go where we wanted.
Some picnic benches to use, ideal, saved getting our own out.
Great price!

Disliked: There was lots of noise, mainly due to people on the nearby beach having a party!
If the climbing equipment and Park were within the camping field, it would have allowed my daughter some independence as there would be no busy road to cross.
Only found one room to wash up cutlery, which was fine as not many campers.
Hot water was VERY hot!!
