General

  • Centrally located a few miles from Redruth
  • Both Falmouth and Portreath within 15 minutes' drive
  • Spotless amenities including showers, toilets and launderette

Long days lounging among scenic and spacious Cornish surroundings and easy access to both north and south Cornwall are offered up at St Day Tourist Park, a small and peaceful place in the rural setting of old Cornish mines a couple of miles from Redruth.

St Day's centrally located setting has it five minutes from St Day village and niftily placed between north and south Cornwall to use as a base to get to both; Falmouth on the south coast and Portreath on the north are both within 15 minutes' drive. (If you'd rather get around by bus, regular services to Redruth and Truro run from the village.)

Amenities include a centrally set and immaculately kept modern shower block with toilets, basins and free hot water; a launderette with washing machine, dryer, tumble dryer and ironing facilities, and water points, chemical waste disposal and washing up facilities handily set near the shower block. Wifi is available on site for an extra fee.

St Day village five minutes' walk away has a supermarket, a newsagents and a pub serving fish and chip takeaways as well as meals to eat in.

Dogs are welcome at the park, but must be exercised off site and kept on leads at all times when back at base.

Lovely clean shower room and toilets. Possibly the nicest we have come across on our travels. A selection of posh perfumes to use were also available in the shower room. The dish washing area was really nice too. Use of a large chest freezer, a microwave, a kettle and a vacuum cleaner were all available. The kids play area was very basic but my two girls age 6 and 9 loved playing there and making friends. Nice to have somewhere safe that they can go to. Location was great for exploring Cornwall. A nice larger park and outdoor gym was only a 5 minute walk away and a convenience store too.

    Disliked:

Our touring pitch was on a slight incline. There were other flatter pitches but they were in use when we arrived.

Good location, could be so much better with some good maintenance. 28/08/2018

Location is handy for Falmouth. Owner was helpful.

    Disliked:

The toilet block was not very clean and the site in general lacked attention to detail and maintenance e.g Mould in the showers, un mown areas and scruffy edges, the fresh drinking water didn’t have any signage. We had booked a hard standing pitch for our Motorhome but we’re given a grass pitch in the tent field. The owner was helpful and managed to sort us another pitch which was hard standing. The touring park looks much better in the photos than it does in reality.

Lovely small site , very clean shower and toilet block and always hot water , nice and quiet and very friendly staff . Would recommend as a central travelling spot to make the most of sight seeing in cornwall .

    Disliked:

The sensor in the toilets and shower units could stay on for a little longer , because if you showered late the lights would go off before you could finish , which was a little annoying if no one came in to activate them back on , but can see that it is good for the economy .

Well run site with friendly owners willing to help with any little problems. Very clean toilets and showers with plenty of hot water. Liked the music in the shower block and perfume bottles to sample were a nice touch.

    Disliked:

The pitch was slightly sloping which made it a bit difficult to get the caravan level but not a serious problem.

Local attractions

St Day Tourist Park's central location means it's within easy driving distance of most of Cornwall's well-known spots, like the towns of Truro, Falmouth and St Ives 10, 15 and 20 minutes away, the spectacular scenery of Land's End, and beaches and surfing all around.

Portreath and Porthtowan are the two closest beaches, about 10 minutes' drive to the north and with good surfing, kayaking and a café each. Ramble between them for a scenic up and down hike via the South West Coast Path, going on to St Agnes or Godrevy from Portreath if your legs can take it.

A leisure centre, fishing, golf, horse riding, flea market, surfing, spectacularly scenic walks and views are all within easy reach of the site, as well as the remnants of Cornwall's mining history at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Agnes. From Porthtowan, hike along the three and a half miles to Chapel Point, via the old engine house at Wheal Coates.
