An all-star welcome from Starsky and Hutch the Alpacas, an evening’s entertainment at an open air amphitheatre, or a shower in a converted piggery: an array of novel experiences await you at Little Upton Boutique Belltents, on the edge of Bodmin Moor in South East Cornwall. With an impeccable vista of the Cornish countryside, this bijou glamping site is brilliantly located, whether you’re after pure relaxation, an active break, or a combination of the two.

The roomy bell tents come furnished with a comfy futon or double bed (you’ll need to bring your own linen and towels; extra single beds can be supplied on request), plus a woodburning stove, a kettle, and homely touches such as cushions, rugs and tea light chandeliers. Perched on raised decking (for extra warmth), each tent has a lovely “balcony” with cute outdoor dining furniture and ample space for loafing about and admiring the views.

The bell tents have access to a well-equipped communal kitchen with fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave in the converted piggery block (where you’ll also find the shower and loo). Cracking free range eggs, sausages and the like are often available to purchase on site, or there’s a small shop a five minute walk away in the hamlet of Upton Cross (the local delicacy is a world champion cheese, Cornish Blue). However, with a cluster of cosy country inns surrounding the site, you’ll be spoiled for choice if you fancy eating out instead.

Nearby attractions and activities

Little Upton Boutique Belltents is ideal for outdoorsy types of every inclination: the nearby lakes at Siblyback offer fantastic fishing and an extensive range of watersports; there’s top-notch horse riding, walking and biking around beautiful Bodmin Moor (and the famous Camel Trail cycle route, where you can also hire bikes, is only half an hour’s drive away); the River Tamar provides sailing, boat trips and fishing; and for golfers, there’s free four ball golf at a neighbouring country club, plus discounted rates at a many of the local golf clubs, including beauties such as Lanhydrock.

For evening entertainment, try the Sterts open air amphitheatre, just a hop and a skip away from your tent; this unique venue hosts regular music, theatre and comedy productions during the warmer months; alternatively, it’s a short drive to the towns of Liskeard and Launceston.

Little Upton Boutique Belltents is halfway between the two coasts of Cornwall, so guests are perfectly placed for sightseeing. Take your pick of glorious coastal towns such as Fowey, Looe and Polperro; world-famous gardens such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan or the Eden Project; breathtaking country estates such as Lanhydrock and Cotehele; plus animal attractions, museums, theme parks and more.

Fantastically equipped bell tent with amazing views

Liked: The location was amazing, the views from the bell tent are spectacular and really is the perfect setting to get away from hectic lives. The bell tent was perfectly equipped, the futon bed was really comfortable and even though we had amazing weather during our visit we couldn't resist lighting the wood burner at night. On top of having the wood burner and a BBQ on the decking we also had a fire pit ...

Disliked: We can honestly say there is nothing we disliked, this was a perfect break from ourselves. After talking to the owner on the phone prior to arriving we knew that the kitchen did not have a cooker, so we took a small camping stove so we enjoyed a full-english on our decking every morning, as we had seen comments about there not being a cooker but to be honest cooking breakfast with the amazing views ...

Liked: The location was perfect, nestled in the East slopes of Bodmin moor with stunning views to Dartmoor in the distance. Perfectly situated for visits to Heligan, the Eden Project, beaches and fishing villages both North and South.
Run by a friendly couple, helped by their dogs, chickens, piglets, horses and alpacas.
Clean, high quality shower and loo in a converted barn. Useful kitchen with ample supplies of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
A small, efficient wood-burning ...

Disliked: The local town of Liskeard is disappointing, but there is really no need to spend any time there.

Liked: the fact it was very quiet and relaxed and only 3 other tents on site.the view was great, the chickens wandering around was fun to see.sturdy picnic seating area with bbq to usewas an added bonus.futons were comfy and clean which was nice n logs for stove provided.ownerws were polite, friendly and helpful.

Disliked: disliked the torrential rain we had durimng the nite but obviously not their fault!!nothing i disliked at all but did feel perhaps a 2nd or 3rd toilet could be installed as my 5 year old needed the toilet and had to wait quite a while as somebody was showering, this happened few times as time we got his shoes on somebody else had nipped in!

Liked: This was our first time glamping, and it was great, we enjoyed evey moment, we were a bit nervous at first as we didn't know what to expect, but it just kept getting better.. We had one wet day which did not hinder our experience, but our children aged 3&5 LOVED every minute from the rain to their favorite chicken, they would of quite happily stayed at the farm ALL day, just watching ...

Disliked: The only thing would be ...... The rain.... :)

Liked: We booked the bell tents and yurt with friends, children aged from 3 to 14. We all had a really great time. Beautiful views from our tents, Minions village nearby great for walks & historic sights, and we went for a good bike ride at Cardinham Woods.
Our dog was welcomed which was great.
Tents & beds etc were spotless.
Lots of secure space for children to play and all within eyesight of tents.
Very good crockery ...

Disliked: Good kitchen facilities although cooker hob is needed as the camping one provided didn't heat effectively.
Owners welcomed our feedback and said they would be installing a hob.
It was chilly in the yurt at night (April!) so perhaps a bigger heater would help. The tents were nice and warm as a log burner is installed.
I think a communal fire pit is being installed which will be a great addition for cold evenings ...

Liked: The bell-tent was very good, and surprisingly warm considering the weather. We had biting north winds, heavy rain and hail, and sub-zero temperatures on at least one night, and we remained relatively comfortable.

The decking is great, and really quite large. It really helped keep us dry and warm too, much more so than a tent pitched on the ground.

The owners were really friendly and quick to respond to any issues we had, i ...

Disliked: The kitchen facilities were not yet finished, but we could see that a lot of work was under way and it was looking promising.
