Feeling a bit snarly? Nerves increasingly gnarly? We prescribe a trip to Marlie.
Laid-back Marlie Farm Holiday Park sits in a lovely rural setting close to the beaches of New Romney and Dymchurch, on the Kent coast. With a generous sprinkling of fluffy bunnies, a spa bath and sauna to soak and steam your cares away, and plenty of stuff to keep the kids entertained, it could be just what the doctor ordered to restore your sense of calm and equilibrium...
Younger campers will enjoy the fun sessions in the Loopy kids' club, the indoor pool, amusements centre and adventure playground, plus of course all the general romping about in the fresh air (arm them with a few carrots and send them off to make friends with the resident rabbits).
If you want a break from the cooking, the park has a decent family restaurant; there’s also a bar with Sky TV, and an adjacent entertainment venue where you can let your hair down with a dance and singalong in the evenings.
You can relax in the knowledge that all the basics are covered, too: smartly refurbished showers and loos; a shop (as well a big supermarket just minutes up the road); a launderette; and free wifi in the clubhouse.
There, you’re feeling better already, aren’t you?
Nearby attractions and activities
Buckets and spades are go, with a range of good beaches on the doorstep; try Littlestone and Dymchurch, or Camber Sands a little further away. You’ll spot the steam engines of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway running along the waterfront; don’t miss a trip on this historic miniature railway, one of the best ways to explore the area.
Golfers don’t need to travel far to get a round in: the Littlestone Golf Course is right next door to Marlie Farm Holiday Park. Other sporting pursuits on offer include excellent fishing at the Wylands Angling Centre, where there are an amazing ten lakes to choose from; and a wide range of watersports, both on the nearby beaches and at a specially-designed lake just inland (sand yachting, wakeboarding, jet skiing and more).
Whatever your ages and stages, there’s no shortage of inspiration for a family outing. Twenty minutes up the road is the brilliant Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, where you can bump along through herds of African wildlife in a safari truck and get up close to the gorillas in the “Palace of the Apes”; you’ll also see rhinos, elephants, lions, tigers and lots of other ferocious and precocious beasts.
Alternatively, you could go for a day out in Dover, to explore the White Cliffs and historic Dover Castle; a sedate saunter around spectacular Leeds Castle, potentially offset with an adrenaline-boosting high ropes adventure at the neighbouring Go Ape! centre; a tastebud-tickling trip to the Biddenden Vineyard and Cider Works; a walk down memory lane at Yesterday’s World; or a fun-filled foray to the fantastic Hop Farm near Maidstone.
Better book for two weeks, then...

Liked: the site was clean, friendly. the showers had nice warm water and the block was warm. a nice area for walking. Disliked: not enought info for evening entertainment. false advertising of facilites, only a very small pool and no sauna or jacuzzie, like was said. beach was meant to be very close but i found it hard to find an entrance nearby to get onto local beach. the club meal was dissappointing. |

Short stay in 5man tent with the kids stephen c. (Family with young children, 1 review, 0 photos) Confirmed ?
Liked: The helpful flexibility of the pitch areas. We were allowed a fair amount of flexibility in positioning and facing of our tent. Plenty of space to spread out. Disliked: The limits of the swimming pool. Due to the small size of the pool, the visits were sessional, so you could only spend 45 minutes in the pool before the following session took over. This meant queuing at times. Also, access to the pool is via the toilet block - although I believe that this is to be addressed. That said, the pool is very well supervised by friendly staff. |

Liked: Nothing Disliked: we were crammed in so close to people all around us, you couldn't even get a car between the 2 tents! there were staff living in a couple of Caravans behind us, and they were up till all hours and very loud. the shower block had apparently been refurbished in April this year, but it had bad mould in all showers and the showers all got blocked up when in use.
