Listed Site
This is such a pretty site - tucked in a quiet glen beside an unruffled duck pond, and embraced by bluebell woods full of red squirrels, badgers and woodpeckers - that you may never want to leave... When you do manage to drag yourself away from Ninham Country Holidays, it’s just a short ride through gorgeous countryside to the sandy beaches and thatched roofs of Shanklin, the island’s top resort.
As well as being highly decorative, the large pond is good for fishing, as it’s stocked with carp, perch, roach and rudd. There’s also a heated outdoor pool, ideal for a relaxing soak. If you’re coming for one of the festivals, imagine how civilised it would be to come back to this blissful place instead of fighting it out for tent space among the crowds (the number 8 bus gets you to Bestival in just 15 minutes, or the Isle of Wight Festival in half an hour).

Nearby attractions and activities
The plentiful cycle tracks and footpaths mean it’s easy to start exploring the Isle of Wight’s diverse terrain of rolling hills, woodland and white cliffs framing golden beaches. Not for nothing is this called the Garden Isle: Mediterranean plants thrive in the mild climate, and visitors can expect to spot a wide range of wildlife around and about. It’s no wonder Queen Victoria and her brood decamped here so frequently from smelly London (visitors can check out their seaside digs at Osborne House).
Natural attractions aside, the island offers great watersports
from its lovely beaches, as well as all manner of other athletic activities, and sights to suit all tastes. Culture vultures should try Carisbrooke Castle or one of the many museums, dinosaur hunters can track down the great beasts that used to roam the shores, fledgling zoologists will enjoy the many animal-based attractions, and that’s before we even get started on the scenic steam railway, glorious botanic gardens or rip-roaring theme parks!

Good location, lovely showers, excellent price Tanya_M (Solo traveller-female) Confirmed
?
Liked: As a solo cyclist/camper and new media geek, I was very impressed by how together Ninham have their act at this pleasantly rural, large tent/caravan/motorhome site... In addition to all the pre-arrival bumpf, I received a text with GPS and OS coordinates, plain english directions to the site, and found a personalised welcome pack with map to my pitch on arrival at the unattended reception (it was start of season), plus an ... Disliked: Perhaps because it was start of season, on a couple of nights, the lights were a bit tardy coming on in the ladies shower/toilet block. Not Ninham's fault, but as a pedestrian/cyclist, the lack of a footway either side of the entrance, located close to a nasty blind bend on a fast, narrow and traffic-heavy country lane led to tense moments entering/leaving the site. Finally, not a criticism, but a suggestion ...

Liked: Location was 100% short lovely walk to the beach. Local superstore 3 min drive so no need to pack food. Staff were helpful, and site was spread out nicely, free wifi so able to plan days and events. Disliked: Other campers doing washing up late at night, not sites fault.

Liked: The pitches, the pool, games room and all the various dog walks available, and the friendly staff on welcome. Very helpful people. Disliked: The busy body that told us we weren't allowed to burn wood (He didn't work there! but was apparently an ex-warden).
