lndulge your inner Doctor Doolittle at this working farm, where the creature conversationalists include water buffalos, alpacas and micro pigs, as well as more common farm breeds, birds and small pets. You can even try talking to the tiddlers: the beach is only a hundred yards away down the coastal path...

Visitors to Grange Farm can take their pick of level, well drained electric or non-electric pitches in different locations and sizes. All have miles of lovely views, either out to sea, or inland across forested hills and the pretty village of Brighstone. The essential amenities include free hot showers, plus a coin-operated bath, laundrette and drinks machines, the shop is stocked with everything you could possibly need, and the sizeable children’s playground has more than the average kit.

Canine companions (on the lead) are accepted; the many footpaths around and about for walkies will get their tails wagging.

Nearby attractions and activities

The site is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so the local terrain is great for ramblers, pedallers, anglers and fossil hunters alike.

A short walk away is Brighstone village, home to pubs, tea rooms and shops, including the only National Trust shop on the Isle of Wight, plus a park for the kids. On the outskirts of the village, visitors can uncover the Isle of White Pearl, home to the largest pearl jewellery collection in the country (warning: it could prove tricky to leave without a souvenir...)

The thrills and spills of the Blackgang Chine adventure park are about ten minutes away by car. Other recommendations include Chessel Pottery, where guests can decorate their own masterpiece, or just browse the shops and have an award-winning cream tea; and the Needles Park at Alum Bay, for a boat ride or chairlift view of the iconic rocks and lighthouse, a trip around a sweet factory or glass blowing studio, plus other family-oriented attractions and rides.

There’s an indoor pool, gym and exercise classes at the West Wight Leisure Centre in Freshwater (seven miles from the park), which also runs a programme of summer activities for children.

Liked: The facilities were good.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the site shop has everything you need.
I experienced truly excellent customer care when they cooked us extra jam croissants after the day's baking had sold out.

Disliked: Being on the cliff edge has the downside of being exposed to the wind.

We had a fab stay here last summer and we are just about to book again. Camp site is excellent with friendly staff and clean facilities. We stayed in the over-flow field which was perfect for us as we wanted a bit of space.

Liked: The friendly staff and well-stocked shop - they had absolutely everything we needed. The over-flow field was perfect for us - lots of space and we didn't have to worry about the kids making too much noise. It was also nice and quiet for us in the morning as the main campsite was quite busy and everyone seemed to be a bit close. We liked our space and still only had a short walk to the ...

Disliked: Everything about Grange Farm is excellent. The only downfall is probably the lack of a little bar/cafe on site or a pub within close walking distance - otherwise perfect and would highly recommend.

From the manager...

Brighstone village is just under 1 mile, (about 10 mins walk) the Three Bishops Pub or Brighstone tea rooms are good for food, we also have a shop onsite and sell freshly baked bread and croissants (also tins, frozen foods, toys etc) but sorry no beer!
